Ah - sorry the quote history on this was a little fragmented. I thought you were talking about a used EV with a damaged battery casing / shield (and thus written off), not an aged, but otherwise mechanically sound EV.
The latter - yes, you could drive till your range degrades to zilch. The former has
written off cars as new as 2022.
