Icon41 A Look at the Sharks

After the rerates, the Sharks are in OK shape going into the 2017-18 season. There are a couple of holes to fill in free agency but this is where we are at right now.

Ovechkin(78) - Seguin(78) - Pavelski(77)
Hall(76) - Hanzal(74) - Kreider(75)
Larsson(67) - Cullen(71) - Ribeiro(69)
? - Shore(66) - ?

Weber(78) - Byfuglien(76)
Alzner(69) - Marincin (66)
? - ?

Rask(79)
?

We have fantastic depth at C because Pavelski can move in and out if needed. No one claiming Ribeiro is a blessing in disguise right now considering he has a decent rating and a cap hit that comes in lower than all RFA/UFA grids. We'll take that as a win and plan to use him in our lineup.

We have a couple of bums on waivers that we do not plan to play.

Heading into Free Agency we will have about $10mill to spend after paying Ovechkin and Weber. We'll find some 4th line pluggers, bottom pair D and a backup goalie. Our RW position is kind of weak so we may see what is out there as far as a top 6 RW goes.

We play this game to win and I think we can be right in the mix if we can get off to a good start. Last year we started horribly which led to the Jones/Price trade that paid off for both teams. This year we look to Rask to get the job done.

Ovechkin was an absolute beast in the playoffs and we think he can do that again. Only this year we hope Seguin is there with him!
