I didn't get to watch the QC team this year but it does seem like the hard nosed defensive players seem to have been favourites of McGill but the more "offensively" minded players seemed to be in his bad books alittle to often. Well it would be hard to tell how far a guy like Ramholt has developed considering he was told by McGill to focus on defense and not worry about the offensive game b/c he is already good at that. Something like that. It woudl be easy for McGill to just let Ramholt run free ala Mike Green in Washington and we would all look at Ramholts offensive stats and say wow he is really progressing when in actuallity his play has stagnated. Not saying Ramholt is as good as Green, just an example. Maybe the same can be said with a few of the Flames prospects who didn't exactly put up glorias numbers but may have made big strides in other important aspects of the game like defense, intensity, decision making and game preperation aswell as mental toughness. It's hard to put a stat on all aspects of the sport.

I also get the impression from posters who watch the team closely that though McGill is a straight shooter he is rather harsh and abrassive. Maybe to tough?? But they are trying to be pro's so why not get them ready even if that means some tough love?

I wonder if the team would be better off with a coach who is more of a teacher and not so much of a defensive specialist/hot head.

Take all that with a grain of salt b/c like I said I didn't watch the team. This is just the impression I get from the season's notes and comments from the media, player quotes, posters and even some McGill quotes aswell.

It also kinda bothers me that the QC team starved for scoring has a guy like Cracknell in the ECHL scoring well but when he gets a shot in the AHL is on the 4th line. Maybe if Cracknell was on the team they would of won a couple more of those one goal games? Were Cracknell and Sietsonen that bad that they couldn't subplant some of the ineffective scorers on the team or players that seem to have no chance at a future with the Flames. Peters, Couture, Maki? Well at least Maki is back in Finland.
