That $3.5 million goes to support a schedule of more than 60 games a season for teenage boys, with no comparable development opportunities for girls.
Yet, USA Hockey's website claims: USA Hockey's primary emphasis is on the support and development of grassroots hockey programs.

This is definitely not right, but paying the girls is not exactly the same thing.
