I agree with your premise though. Look at the Cardinals who seem to lose a pitcher from their rotation every year and are still fantastic.

Yeah, very position dependent for the NFL, unless you're the Patriots. Lose Gronk, arguably best TE in NFL history? No problem...super bowl.
