I'm not surprised either way if they kept Shanahan or let him go. Simply put it costs money to let someone go, and with Keefe almost certain to go, and the past money on the books with bad coaches, they can only have so much in the budget for this stuff. So as long as they feel Shanahan can do it, they'd have him back. To me, it's admirable to keep him this long because of results. Shanahan himself has been interesting - in a results based business he continuously bet on skill with his big four, even last year when most were clamoring for changes. This year his neck is on the line and anything short of a Stanley Cup final, he'll be let go. So with everything on the table he can't go to bat for any group of players. If he's kept he may go all in. Treliving is probably the big in ####. Either way he's safe because with too much money wasted on execs they can't afford to fire him, so he'll likely get the Prez position eventually.
