They have room but not to sign a lot of good players.
You can't be serious that only one of their d-men is any good.

Reilly - ideally a #2, two way dman at this stage who comes with foot speed wrinkles and should be paired with a stay at home guy
McCabe - perfect #3 stay at home
Benoit - #3-#4, shut down dman who blocks shots and doesn't let anyone off the hook. He was every bit the role of Tanev the second half of the year. Solid.

Benoit was particularly impressive. He didn't mess up at all and was mobile enough to hit guys mercilessly. I think they found a gem. Anyway, the Leafs then should find a #1 two way dman similar to Pietrangelo with maybe another #3 two way dman and a filler guy. Certainly getting that star will be hard, but finding another #3 and a bottom pair guy shouldn't be hard.

Bertuzzi's probably a goner, and Domi said he'd take a haircut to be a Leaf. If you look up this years UFA crop it's looking really do-able to get some good run-through-everyone, players. So I do think between the Marner trade, and the UFA market they'll be able to make some sizable moves. Add in next year Tavares' contract coming off the books and that's a huge book of money to work with. As long as Treliving doesn't offer middle guys big contracts, they should be fine.
