Like the thing that thousands of people do all the time, including women, really often on trails with, get this, parking lots, some people would legit rather run into a ####ing bear than a man? I don’t know man, it’s like, I get it. It demonstrates something to say ‘bear’ but I don’t know how that translates to reality at all.

It's a thought experiment. It's not an actual situation, but you're supposed to think about why so many women would choose the bear and, although things are a lot better than they used to be, there are still things men can do make women feel, and be, safer. That goes for those of us who aren't violent or abusive or being harassive towards women.
