Funny enough, Flames had a poll when the team moved to Calgary but fans chose the name they already had. I think they made the right choice as it's a solid name. In the end, I'm glad it wasn't western themed or the runner-up "Calgary Chinooks."

LOL, I can just imagine Flames was actually named Rednecks and then years later, there is the Roughnecks.
This city can't kick that stigma especially when the Flaming C is replaced by the stupid Blasty fire bleeding horse as the logo!
