I recall when Panarin was choosing a team to sign with. The Flames were reported to have been really close to signing him, but he chose Chicago allegedly because he was working about LW depth on the Flames, while Chicago offered him a chance to step right into a top line role. Something the Flames couldn't offer with Gaudreau already there.
Sylvegard probably isn't vying for 1st line ice time on any team, but he'd have a better shot at top 6 or top 9 time in Calgary than he would in Florida.
