How about routes? I'll be on the bike ~5 hours so I don't mind mix of path and road. I'm mostly interested in exploring the city and surrounding areas than doing a long road ride.

When are you here? Depending on dates, we can go riding together if you want. Or I can point you in the right direction. I assume I know who you are based on the CP strava group. You can PM me if interested.
As for renting a bike it depends on where you are staying and/or want to go. I'd recommend BSP Bikes on Pacific or Spokes on West Georgia. There's also English Bay bike rentals, but I don't know anyone who's ever used them.
