Agreed, though I'd add "or no present capability to detect that evidence".
I remember an experiment done a few years ago where eye tracking was used to make all text on a computer monitor scrambled except for the area the eye was actually focused on. The reader read the screen of text fine, and did not realize other parts of the screen was scrambled. A third party observer, however, could not read anything on the screen - it was all gibberish.
