And to be honest this discussion is about the 29th ranked Flames prospect which is likely where Billins would have been ranked last year by Wings fans.
I just haven't seen too many AHL players moving around that have then moved up the charts and dominated. Seems like 9 are just filler and 1 makes an impact.

I agree that he is a long shot. But this is also a fan poll. The rankings are as much about the exposure of a player then their actual ability. 90% of the people voting haven't even seen most of these guys play more then a handful of minutes (if that).
There are small D in the NHL that progressed via a similar manner. Mike Weaver, Erik Gustaffson, Tobias Enstrom, etc.
