AEG, owner of the Kings, Staples Center, part of the Lakers, and a total of 11 professional sports franchises, is in serious negotiations to sell a significant minority interest in the Kings to Wyc Grousbeck and his partners, who currently own the Boston Celtics NBA Team. The deal, if completed, will leave AEG the majority owner, and Tim (their President) will remain on the BoG, and stay as Chairman of the NHL Expansion & Relocation Committee, and Member of the NHL Finance & Accounting Committee. BUT it will allow Wyc's group to assume COMPLETE day to day control of the team's "on-ice Operations". When the Kings were preparing to hire their new Coach, the GM had to meet with Wyc to get approval.
-This is from someone close to the Kings organization. The point of this post, is that there is a big trade in the works, that will happen after this sale goes through, and it invloves the Kings taking on big salary. I'd like to think it will involve the Flames and our unwanted contracts, but apparantly it's bigger than them taking on a couple of small (warrner, Eriksson) contracts to reach the floor.
