OK, my turn to run one of these, and what better time to re-start a movie themed draft than the week of Oscar.

Pretty much the same rules will apply to this draft as the Movie draft, except one small change. AKings will commence after 12 hours here, and I'm temped to shorten that as well. We'll see how it goes as we move along.

Will cap the participants at 20.

The categories involved include:

Best Picture -
Best Actor -
Best Actress -
Best Supporting Actor -
Best Supporting Actress -
Best Director -
Best Original Song -
Best Foreign Film -
It's An Honor Just To Be Nominated -

What we are looking for are individual performances. Please designate what category you are drafting from, what year they won, and what movie.

Multiple winners can be selected, but once one trophy is selected, you cannot select that same trophy.

"It's An Honor Just To Be Nominated" - Any Actor or Actress performance nominated, but didn't take home the hardware.

This draft will not be snaked.

So, if I have this right, since we are picking the performance Tom Hanks could be drafted twice in Best Actor category?

If this is the case, I like it.

Could I make a category suggestion?

I was robbed!: Actor/Actress/Director never to have won an Oscar (living or dead).

Also: a question.... Can directors qualify for the "honor just to be nominated" category?

Dis, you are correct. Someone like Tom Hanks can be chosen twice in the same category. You have to make sure you're specific to which winning role you are selecting.

I will make this one stipulation. You can only pick the person once per team. Ie - you can pick "actress A" in best actress, but you will be unable to pick "actress A" in supporting/directing/songwriting/"honor". But the next team can take any other winning/nominated performance by "actress A" other than the one you have chosen, once as well.

Liam, the "robbed" suggestion was basically my idea for "honor to be nominated". Because we are selecting the performance, I want to leave this as simple as possible. They were either nominated, or not, or they won, or not. Black and white.

And yes, any of the categories can be selected in "honor".

Fair enough, I was just thinking expanding the honor/snub category to include both a performance and a 'career' would be cool.

i.e.
Snubbed performance: Spencer Tracey for Judgment at Nuremberg
Snubbed career: Jeff Daniels

(apologies to anyone who had Judgment at Nuremberg or Jeff Daniels on their short lists)

So we have 9 participants and the Oscars are on tonight.
Are people waiting to be inspired by the long, drawn-out speeches?

I'll give it a go. I don't think I've seen more than a handful of the winners from the last 15 years or so, but I loves the classics.
