Like the title says, Im having a 2nd wedding ceremony in Calgary on July 25th. We have gotten a few quotes but some of the prices are pretty outlandish.(I know it's Calgary and things are a little more expensive) Just curious if there are better deals to be had, and I'm sure i can convince my mother-in-law to support CP if there are any of you guys out there. :D Let me know....

It's not just Calgary, wedding photographers charge,IMO, ridiculous prices. Getting married in BC this summer and the prices we were quoted made my jaw drop.

Joining Hearts Studio did my wedding 4 years ago. The wedding and 2 hours of outdoor family pics (and we got to keep the negatives) for under $800. You would have to look the number up in the phone book. The pics turned out really well!
Congrats!

i dont know who my wife got quoted from but i know the quote was 1800 bucks for pics and another 1500 for video ..... sounds really high to me, from oklahoma prices, but i guess i should not be suprised with any prices in calgary these days

We used Patti from Canmore for our wedding and liked her style.

If you're still looking for someone I would recommend Nadine Foster. (I believe her website is www.nadinefosterphoto.com (http://www.nadinefosterphoto.com) )
She is doing my wedding next month but we hve already done an engagement shoot and she was really good.

Wedding photography is not cheap. There's actually a lot of work that goes into wedding photography, besides the investment in gear, you also have to be well organized, and oh yes... talent. Talent never comes cheap. Just ask Iggy. You can hire a person for $500 or $1000, but you get what you pay for. These are your memories for the rest of your lives. Your grandchildren will look at your wedding photos and album 30 years from now. Don't you want to show them your amazing timeless photos?

To each their own. I understand some people can not afford a really good photographer. Just pick one that suits your style. Make sure you see lots of their stuff and not just their "best shots". Every photographer has a few best shots. I let my customers look at all the photos I make, so they see how consistent I am. They will not get 2 or 3 great shots. They will get 100+ great shots from me.
