I thought I could access the music on my computer with my Xbox. Do I have to have media centre OS running on my computer or can it be done with XP?

I know this is a noob but I can't seem to find any info on the Microsoft site about this:w00t:.

Thanks for any help.

As long as your Xbox and PC are on the same network, you can stream music and video from your PC to your Xbox. You need Windows Media Player 11 for it to work, though.

Instructions are here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925915/en-us

And here: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/pcsetup/XPSP2.htm

I could never get this working. But of course, that's because I use the same internet port for both. :D

I spent the time to set this up a while ago, then I figured "who cares, if I want to listen to an album I'll throw the CD in my stereo". Haven't used it since.
