Yo

I'm wondering what it costs to get this done.

Feel free to PM me, I'm also looking for a solution to a bathroom that has carpet on the floor. Obviously I don't want that. However I don't think I can afford to do everything all at once, so might need a stop gap solution for just the bathroom that wouldn't then be a waste of money when I re-do everything else.

Thanks

Hardwood in the bathroom?

Maybe he meant hard wood in the shower.

I'm not following you two ;)

Anyway - I'm also a knob - I went to the house today (open house) and looked in the bathroom to get some measurements. Hmmm, no carpet.

Apparently I mixed up the bathrooms and the place I looked at earlier had carpet in the bathroom, the one I bought didn't. So that made me happy. Although kind of sad I didn't remember what the house I just bought look like.

Current Tile installation we are working on (in my house)

1/2" plywood screwed on top of the 3/4" slat boards, and then 1/2" cement board on a bed of mortar and screwed down. Then the tile. the installation will last forever!

Wow, I started out in tile in my teens and that is a great example of prep work. You are right, that floor will outlast the house. Looks good man.

I thought I was the only genius who used the cardboard as homemade joint spacers.

and, actually its broken ceramic tile chunks...lol couldn't find the bag of spacers

How do you deal with the extra height from the concrete board? Transition wise.

Flames_Gimp
11-22-2007, 01:36 PM
i'm doing hardwood up to the tile, it will be same height when we are done. In other cases wee would use transition strips.

While I would love to redo my kitchen floor (the lino is in rough shape), I think my shingles may need to be replaced first. I haven't climbed up the ladder to check, but a partial shingle came down during one of those vicious windstorms. It's either mine or my neighbours (the colour is similar on both homes). Do you do, know of, any roofers?

Flames_Gimp
02-11-2008, 02:02 PM
im putting a claim for my roof, same thing, that wind messed it up. dont know roofers, sorry.

Hey FC, good looking work you do there. Couple questions for ya. I am looking at re-doing my kitchen floor, it's in desperate need of replacement. What costs more per sq/ft, tile or real hardwood for decent material?

For real hardwood, do you know what your price per sq/ft is or would you rather I just sent you my kitchen dimensions?

**edit**

Sorry, I should have sent a PM

Any new pics on the cabinets?

Any pricing on the cabinets?

I wouldn't even know where to begin asking about cabinets. :(

Flames_Gimp
02-13-2008, 09:04 PM
i'll tell ya what you see in the pics is about $1000 in materials so far, there is one smaller cabinet out of the shot as well. I've still got to build the doors.

the cabinet frames are made of 2 sided maple vaneer ply and all the outer framing is of solid maple.

depending on how many if you wanted solid like those probably looking at $3000-$5000 total. including materials. (not including backsplash, counter top)

no new pics yet as there is no updates yet, slow project at the moment.
