Bizarre story. Mets manager Art Howe gets fired, but is going to manage the team until the end of the season. Terrible move IMO, why announce it now?

He came out in the media a while back saying "if you are going to fire me, don't wait till the end of the season, do it now."

That being said... with the line up the mets have, they were finding ways to lose games.

Having one of the best front 5 in the game In Lieter, Glavine, Benson, Zambrano and Tracksell (in terms of ERA that is) and Looper to close games. And quite a few solid bats in Cameron, Hidalgo, Piazza and Matsui. For the most part the other pieces were Garbage and they had their fair share of injuries.

If they got some solid position players who could at least make contact with the ball, they would be contending for a playoff spot.

That being said I HATED the Zambrano deal where they sent their best pitching prospect (probably top 2 in the league) to TB for a guy who is Maybe #4 or #5 on their staff.
