The Calgary Flames who have been quiet most of the off-season have desided to pull the trigger on two seperate deals over the weekend.

Yesterday the Flames sent malcontent defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh to the Minnesota Wild in return for verteran Rod Brindamour and elite prospect dman Kevin Klein. The Wild also sent a bag of cash to the Flames.

In todays second deal thats just been announced, the Flames sent enigmatic young forward Oleg Saprykin and a 4th round draft pick to the NY Rangers for solid RW Jason Blake.

In a short statement to reporters Flame GM T99 said simply " This is our year and we are going for it...age isnt as much of a factor as it has been in years past and as such we are not afraid to add an older guy nor some salary to achieve the pinnacle of success in this league...the Gerry Cheevers Cup"

He also made it very apparent he wasnt done talking to ther GM's and will pull another deal if it makes sense for his team.

Stay tuned.
