Welcome to the CP HOF. Here we will post links to some of our famous (or infamous) threads. We will also add individual posts if we agree they deserve to be recognized as Hall of Famers.

First entry....the SnotBoy story.

Ken King was nice enough to drop by one night.

I would love to see the thread from the summer of 2004, when that dude "Called out Cowperson"

I think EVERY poster on this board just dumped on him.

What a classic thread!!!

How about that one where Cowperson and Lanny go toe to toe just after Bush won his second term.

Another good but short one was when Bingo convinced Lanny that Willi Plett was coming out of retirement.

2002 thread about the Flames fans, (some CP'ers in there too) who got punted out of Rectall after about 5 mins in a mid March 2002 game for retailiating (throwing the stuff back at Oiler fans that the Oiler fans threw at them originally, Then,a lledgedly, a few roughed up by the Police.

The longest thread that I saw for a while after, when the population was about 14% of what it is now...

That first political thread was huge!

It was on the old board and I believe one of the reasons the OT board was created. I could be wrong about that, but that was what I remembered.

Then there was the one about US and Canadian womans hockey teams and the Canadian Flag fiasco. A personal favorite

Well since it's so friggin big I gotta say we throw the thread that is heaven for the post whores(*cough* albert *cough*), word association.

If the game thread for Calgary Vancvouer game 7 is here, that should be up there too.

Laugh. Yep, "Wife of Abused". Still the best handle anyone has come up with and deserves a spot in the HOF.

Did that guy ever come back and say what happened in the end? I'm pretty sure what happened was "nothing" but it'd be interesting to know for sure.

Photon, if you could find a way to link back to the old forums, you would be GOD around here, and not just the web warrior that you already are.... Good luck!

One for the memories for me, was the signature thread where Reg and I posted dozens of creations. A lot of laughs were had there. He did some incredible work, and I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent on creating them too....

Just for memories, a few of my favourites here.... (don't have links for Reggie's)

I got some oldies, how about that "salt" one by Modano, and this one might be too far back, but when that poster "redneck" was talking about how everyone on here was racist against Iginla, I think that one got pretty heated, but that was when I first came on this board.

Using the Wayback machine, I found that thread where buddy pulls his socialogical experiment and dresses up as an Oilers fan to see first hand what the experience is like.

Needless to say, he got lit up like a Christmas tree, but the replies aren't archived. Only 2 pages (but 2 pages back in 2002 was = 6 in 2005), but I recall one of the responses had to do with if he was going to go dressing up and then going to Detours for his next "experiment". (not sure if this was the advent of assless chaps on CP or not).

Others:

- all the Jordon threads (superstore, coolers, ect)

- Patrick blowing up and calling us all losers, because he didn't know what a "fata" was.

I was on that ill fated trip to Skydump, and know "Abused Flames Fan" well. In fact it's because of that incident that I first learned of Calgarypuck actually. The trip has gone on ever year since then without incident, at least from the EPS again.

And we lasted at least 7 minutes into the 1st... :D Didn't help how bad the Flames sucked back then...

"AFF" doesn't like to talk about it much, so let's just say it had a satisfactory ending.

I'd vote that one for the HOF.

there was a classic jonesy repudiation to his story.

Nope, you got it right the first time. Despite the fact that he plays for Phoenix now, I'll always feel indebted to Sappy for that.

Laugh. Yep, "Wife of Abused". Still the best handle anyone has come up with and deserves a spot in the HOF.

Did that guy ever come back and say what happened in the end? I'm pretty sure what happened was "nothing" but it'd be interesting to know for sure.

How about the thread that created one of out most cherished traditions, the FATA!

That is great that this thread was given concideration. In fact I was one of the 4 (two were family) that got booted and that's how I found this site. As for what happened from it I can tell you with certainty that the tickets issued to three were fought in court and thrown out, the judge pretty much calling them a farce and the cops were being investigated by internal affairs and I think (don't quote me on this) were dismissed

I forgot about that one. Sample was talking about how, as a goalie, some pucks pack more of a wallop than others going at the same speed and I jumped in with physics to denounce his theory. :P

Fine fine fine..next time you stand between the pipes..and I will counter denounce your theory..;)

What old forum are we talking here Proton. I'm trying to remember how many boards we have passed through. We started on like what "Fire on Ice" but what was it hosted on. Then methinks we went through at least one more host and then joined up with the one where Cornflake had migrated his board to. He was one of the SLAM board guys(Leaf fan) I wonder if his board is still going or if SJNANCYs board is still around?

I know if you could restore some of those files we would have a lot of battles brought back to mind with some rival sites along with Jihad's and numerous of our members being punted off other sites.

There was the time the moderators had to deal with a poster who insisted he had a MORAL RIGHT to post pictures of naked women - from the Flames Stanley Cup run of 2004 - at Calgarypuck.com.

He was being banned, re-registering and posting boobie pictures almost by the minute, in a constant duel with moderators that lasted days, saying one time "I can keep doing this all day," arguing it was the principle of the thing that kept him motivated.

Finally, I think, it eventually got through to him that this is a private business and that he was endangering the advertising revenue of the site, that he could cause the site to be shut down by Bingo if he didn't desist . . . . but he never did understand the "good taste" argument.

Breasts were something that MUST be on the internet on ANY site!!!

I don't know if he's still here.

There are stupid trolls, of course, but this guy was in a different class.

100% agree! the most laughs i have had reading the board ever! i might have to subscribe to the Prez's threads so i don't miss anything!

i always remember the mudcrutch threads where his statistical analysis proved that ty conklin was, statistically, a better goalie than martin brodeur. a complete misuse of statistical analysis...but there you are.

on the old board i remember getting into it with CowPerson about conspiracy theories and the SCF 2004. back in the day eh?

I also have to nominate the canucks pictures thread...lots of laughs in that one too.

Thanks for this nomination folks....

Although you have been nominated it does not necessarily guarantee you a place in the CP Hall Of Fame. The CP Flame Fame Finalist Committee meets on the last day of every month. During this meeting we decide whether or not you have earned a spot in the CP Hall of Fame. Constantly check this thread for our decision.

Nothing posted here in over 5 years?
Its covered somewhere else since, but, 3 that stand out since then:

1. Wannamaker thread.
2. Stanley Cup riot thread (though it was more a running commentary that requires the CTV footage to go along with)
3. 2010 Olympics opening ceremony thread.

Any luck on pulling back those pre-2005 archives Photon?
