I believe the bay is carrying Olympic merchandise. They do have the t-shirts on their website. Not sure if you can get the t-shirts with players' names on the back though.

Still uncertain, he won't return in any of the Wild's games before the break but they still think he could make it in time for Sochi. Finland's first game is the 13th iirc

@TBLightning Steven Stamkos will not participate in the 2014 Olympic Games

Tampa Bay Lightning Center Steven Stamkos will not be able to participate in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced today. Stamkos underwent a CT Scan (which offers a three-dimensional view of the bone) this afternoon and then met with Lightning Medical Director Ira Gutentag, who was unable to clear Stamkos for game participation at this time. Rehabilitation with the Lightning training staff will continue and he will be reevaluated in 2-3 weeks.

You'd have to assume St. Louis will be the replacement. Who else could it be?

Giroux or Neal is my guess.

If they want to replace a great sniper with a great sniper then it would be Neal.

Giroux or Neal is my guess.

You're likely right, and out of those two, I think they'd take Giroux. I just hate the thought of any Flyer representing Canada in the Olympics. That franchise is how you say, joke? My English not so good, maybe I mean embarrassment? No wait, classless. That's the one...

The calls from Oiler Nation to take Hall start in 5....4....3.....

Osker

As much as I would like to see them take Giroux, St. Louis really deserves to be there and I hope he goes instead.

There is a decent chance Giordano (or another d callup) goes to sochi. Hamhuis's agent came out today and said his injury is minor but talk among canucks fans is that he has a concussion, you can see him get kicked in the head at 4:14 of this video:

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5wjEIvkGtgo

Obviously going to follow the concussion protocol so it could go either way, you've to think it seems minor with his agent's comments but concussions are unpredictable in the couple days afterwards.

djsFlames
02-05-2014, 11:28 PM
Not wishing anything bad on Hamhuis, but I'd really really like to see Gio get the call. It won't be the same to watch the games without some Flames representation on the team.

Of course they're gonna keep it under wraps until the last minute, but we can hope.

Datsyuk was out a month; re-joined the Red Wings for a couple games, but had his ice time cut to 13-14 minutes. Today, he wasn't on the ice for the Russian's first practice.

There is concern he might not play

Not sure where to post this so I'll do it here. That's just bizarre as I just found this. Thanks, Grandma!

For most Olympians, family is a wonderful and joyous support system, a way to help you achieve your dreams through shared sacrifice. But every once in awhile, family can cut a little deep.

Nicklas Backstrom is on the eve of his Sochi debut, representing his home nation of Sweden. And while the Washington Capitals center is surely excited about the experience, his grandmother is leveling some pretty harsh criticism at him.

"He will make a fool of himself," his grandmother Britt said in the Swedish publication Aftonbladet. (Well, what she really said was, "Han kommer att göra bort sig. Han har spelat så dåligt. Länge." But you get the idea.)

Whoa! Thanks for the support, grandma! Oh, but she wasn't done. She fired some one-timers at Backstrom's entire team:

"On the whole, they've got no game," she said. "I'm up and looking at some periods ... when it's bad I go to bed."

For his part, Backstrom declined comment, which is probably a wise move. It'll be an awkward next family reunion, though.
