In other business news, Tassimo shares are up on reports that they will no longer be discarding previously rejected T discs.

I would like to see the milk product sold separately for Timmy's T-Discs. Buy the coffee and then select a "regular" or "double-double" (or something else). I imagine a pre-mixed, pre-sweetened Timmy's double double at home would go over pretty well with customers.

Tassimo needed to do something after Starbucks left. That being said, I'm not a fan of tassimo as Keurig brewers are much better for coffee and I don't really like the fake milk lattes that Tassimo brews. At least with Keurig or Breville you can run hot water through it for tea.

I wonder if it will be a hit in the states

Edit: I know they have stores there but hear that it is not the "go to"

It seems most Americans still prefer Dunkin Donuts when the choice is available.

I suppose if you loaded the Tassimo with the cleaning disc you could get hot water.

Would Tassimo just die already? It's like they're the laser disc of coffee makers.

Tim's has horrible horrible coffee. If you need a double dose of sugar and cream to make your coffee taste good. That's a problem. Is Tassimo really going to try to simulate that stale watered down taste?

Yep, it works. Used to do it, then they issued a recall on my Tassimo maker for exploding hardware. Filled out the form, got my part in the mail, and haven't done a thing with it. It's shelved for the moment.

wow I am dumb, reading this news story I thought it was a little preachy about how good the single serving coffee was, and Tim Hortons... then I released it was a NR.....

Oh hey, it took a whole 9 posts to get this one. I would have put the over/under at 4.5.

Frankly, it should have been the first post.

Tim's deserves as much bashing as possible. They are the Nickelback of coffee.

Tim's serves a purpose. I don't always drink the same type of beer and I don't like drinking the same cup of coffee.

I'm just a little baffled by the whole thing. Tim Horton's coffee really does not have a distinct taste in any way. Might as well have 7-11 coffee flavoured Tassimo or "free coffee at the car dealership" flavours.

That's like saying, "sometimes I don't like to drink a good cup of coffee, so I will get a Tim's", or "I don't want to drink a glass of clean water, so I will drink some dirty dishwater". It seems rare that anybody would pick a bad product over a good one.

Drinking good coffee takes a bit of getting used to, it's like that first time you try hard liquor or Guinness. If you don't care about subtle things, like flavour or freshness, then Tim's is adequate, or you could spend $1 more and go to the Roasterie or wherever and get something that satisfies more than the need for a caffeine fix.

Except good coffee is different for different people. It's just like music, or movies, or books, or beer.

Except I have never seen any defense of Tim Hortons' goodness. Is it merely considered good by some people because it doesn't taste much like coffee?

It's considered good by some people because they like it. I think that's all that's needed really. It's a personal opinion.

This is coming from a guy who drinks coffee from Tim's, McDonald's, 7-11, my keurig machine, and occasionally from a tin of instant flavored stuff. So I'm probably not a great person to be defending Tim's.

I would concede to the point that subjectively it can considered good coffee. Objectively though, it isn't.

But what savings a person could achieve by brewing it themselves from a Tassimo is arguable. Being able to get a Tim's nearly everywhere for $2, the discs would have to be pretty cheap to compete.

I like Tim Hortons, is it the best coffee in the world? Nope, but it does have a nice kick to it, and that's what I like in my coffee. I've had very good dark roasts that after I drink them I could fall asleep. Part of the reason I drink coffee is to have the caffeine, to me drinking a dark roast or defcaf coffee is like drinking a non-alcoholic beer, I mean yes you can do it, but... why?

Plus, Tims is generally cheaper than Starbuck, Second Cup, and the local cafés. However, if I do have change in my pocket I like to try the mild roasts around

It obviously isn't about savings compared to going to Tim's. It's about convenience.

Pretentious poster is pretentious. Some people like Tim's and some don't - get over it and get on with your life.

Are the discs still insanely expensive for a Tassimo?
