Have you seen this beautifully handcrafted masterpiece flavoured chips recently near you? I remember going down to the local shell gas station years ago and buying about a billion bags of these things and almost pass out from how awesome and spicy they were... I cant find if they were discontinued or who knows, have u seen these lately? if so please let me know where they are so I can go pick some up and revisit my youth

Do they even still make those?

I haven't seen Rave chips in years... I used to buy the salt n vinegar ones. They were so potent, your mouth was a useless, quivering and torn hole for days to come... It was totally worth it.

Wow man.. I haven't seen those in 3-4 years. Those things were fricken' delicious.

Yes, if anybody works or knows somebody that works at Old Dutch could they please tell us why they stopped making these heavenly chips? Just remembering them makes my mouth salivate..

Got me looking at the Old Dutch website, and found these: Thick Cut Slow Cooked Ribs flavour (http://www.olddutchfoods.ca/eng/dgproducts.php). Haven't seen them yet, but will have to keep an eye out.

I tried the Szechuan version of those and was not impressed. The chips don't have enough seasoning for how thick they are and the result is a bland taste.

I think I saw these in Co-Op today, much to my amusement.

PC brand has a nice buffalo wing chip. It's just not the same. Rave chips had the perfect amount of seasoning on them. These ones have a bit too much.

Alright, so on Saturday I sent an email to Old Dutch asking if they still made Rave chips. This is the response I received this morning.

Hi there,

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your letter.

Old Dutch Foods, Ltd. made the marketing decision to discontinue the Old Dutch Rave Potato Chip product line. I have sent a request to the marketing department on your behalf to let them know there is still an interest in this product.

Please accept our sincere apologies, and we hope you will find another favourite.

Regards,

ah, you kids and your fancy chip requests. back in my day all we had were rippl, salt and vinegar, BBQ and Sour Cream and Onion - that was the way it was and we liked it.....

these days it is always about the extreme flavours.......when does extreme move to mainstream and the line get redrawn?

What email did you send them? copy it and PM me, I'll send one too. Rave Extra Salt and Vinegar was the greatest chip ever. The chicken and buffalo wing ones were almost as good as the S&V ones, but not quite.

I miss Rave chips.

Also bring back Tahiti Treat dammit.

Your own personally written one will probably go further than a copy and pasted effort.

Have they (potato chip manufacturers) ever made a baked potato flavoured potato chip?

Yup. I've never had them but Kettle chips are usually good.

It's been said many times but the best potato chips ever (and are sadly no long available) are O'ryan's Sour Cream And Onion.

They still do, they're in the white bag thick cut, called "loaded baked potato". Saw them today for $1.50.

Must be a good idea. If it's starting your own potato chip company, that sounds like an amazing idea. Well done sir.

Haha, no nothing that ambitious but thanks for the vote of confidence. I hope you weren't being facetious.

You can get Pringles' Loaded Baked Potato in the USA. It's pretty good.

Chip flavors are regional...there's stuff in other cities that you can't get here...

Revisiting my youth...does anyone remember GRAPE flavored chips? I was like 7 old years or so...about 1974 ish. They were da BOMB. I mean terrible! Takes a lot to gross out a 7 year old, but that did the trick.

Two of my favourites:

1. Fritos Flavor Twists Honey BBQ - Had these on a recent trip to the US...doesn't seem like they are available here in Canada

2. Dutch Crunch Cracked Black Pepper & Balsamic Vinegar - Used to be able to buy these locally (Newfoundland) but I haven't seen them in about a year:
