View Full Version : What ever happened to the Trailer Park Boys?

I see they lasted from 2001-2008 and made a few movies.

I know for a fact that the TPB's would actually hang out in pubs and local venues and maintain their characters throughout the day/night.

The actors have a new show. I haven't watched it yet.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Drunk_and_On_Drugs_Happy_Fun_Time_Hour

It's basically supposed to be what "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is to "Seinfeld". So they play a fictionalized version of themselves.....

The Drunk and On Drugs Happy Fun Time Hour is a beautiful train wreck, once started you can't look away. The pirates and Papa Karlson (Feetza Pizza) are my favorite characters.

Haven't seen it yet, but that's gotta be arguably the greatest name for a TV show ever.

Loved TPB, especially the first 4-5 seasons. It really went downhill after that, as most shows tend to do. Didn't even watch it anymore the last couple seasons. I'll still throw in season 3 or 4 once in awhile, absolutely classic. No-one gets me laughing like Ricky, and his Rickyisms. He passes my comedic test with flying f'n carpets!

Saw the Santa Claus… "go #### yourself” tour at the London O2indigo Arena in December.

My all time favorite line:

Thomas Collins: "You'll regret the day you messed with Philadelphia Collins and sons!"
Ricky: "Philadelphia?"
Bubbles: "It looks like he ate Philadelphia."

I kinda lost interest in TPB in the 4th season. Season 2 was perfection, Season 3 was a little on the silly side but still good. Season 4 is when the slapstick stuff started (hated Conky).

Favorite line:
Tanya: Have you read the Bible?
Bubbles: Maybe I have, maybe I haven't - what's it to you?
Hampton - The Bible Pimp: CAN you read, my son?
Bubbles: Well, that depends - can you go ###### yourself?

Edit:
Also can't forget this gem.
Ricky: Knock knock.
Mr. Lahey: Who's there, Rick?
Ricky: Somebody.
Mr. Lahey: Somebody who?
Ricky: Somebody whose ex-wife owns the trailer park is the only reason you got the job as trailer park supervisor; you got fired from the police force 'cause you ######ed up bigtime, but we're not gonna' talk about that, are we? And now, you're gonna' get fired from this job 'cause you're nothin' but a drunk ######in' idiot who can't even run the trailer park! You're drunk right now, I can smell the ######in'liquor on ya' from here. Go away for 18 months to jail and everything goes to ######in' s**t, doesn't it, Lahey? Let your little buddy with the no ######in' shirt move in with my girlfriend and ruin my whole ######in' life; now there's ######in' s**t everywhere in this ######in' trailer park! Ya' ######in' idiot.

I thought seasons 3 and 4 were the best (sorry, Jacks), with the show generally going downhill afterwards. But seasons 5-7 gave us the drunker, darker Lahey, wich isn't a loss at all. Jim Lahey's in the running for my favourite tv character ever.

Randy: Mr Lahey is this you talking or the liquor?

Mr. Lahey: Randy...I am the liquor.

Irreverent hosers Ricky, Julian and Bubbles will be back for another season of park pranks — but this time on the Internet.

Trailer Park Boys stars Robb Wells, John Paul Tremblay and Mike Smith say they’ve acquired the rights to the hit Canadian comedy franchise from the show’s original producers.

And they’ve started pre-production on an eighth season of the mockumentary series that will be available on their new Internet channel, SwearNet.com.

The acquisition does not include the recently completed third film in the franchise, tentatively titled Trailer Park Boys 3: Don’t Legalize It.

Ten new season eight episodes will be available later this year. New season nine episodes will follow after that.

Entertainment One is the distribution company behind the new seasons.

"The Trailer Park Boys are Canadian legends and their brand has an incredible fan following at home and around the world. We are looking forward to seeing their global success explode as Netflix rolls out fresh content and old favourites,"

Their latest movie "Don't Legalize it" is now available on DVD and possibly Blu-ray.

Yeah I'm one of the biggest TPB fans around and the new season is incredibly weak. One of my biggest issues is they always have huge things happen that could be great storylines then move on as if they never happened.

J-Roc sold his entire back catalog and is supposed to be a superstar touring around doing big concerts.... and he marries Sarah and makes liquor? Fail

Ricky gets a 5 year growing pot license and could easily just be wealthy in the suburbs growing and he's back in the trailer park doing crimes with no mention of his house?

They should probably just stop at season 8 but I heard there is 9 and 10 coming, I might not even watch them.

I was at the show and thought it was really great. Pretty cool to see fans dress up as characters and some had the Sunnyvale hockey jerseys.

It was annoying that one fan would keep trying to heckle the boys but at one point (without spoiling it) somebody called Julian an @sshole while he was going off stage.

Of which Julian stopped, turned around and responded 'no you're an @sshole' and continued to go off stage.

I found this show far better than the Live in Dublin concert that you can see on Netflix.

The closing was fantastic.

Better than 8 by a fair margin. They obviously have a new budget and or director because it's much higher level production now, but, it was also more gross than any other season by a lot. Barb walking in on Randy and Lahey nearly killed me I was laughing so hard, despite its grossness.

Do the TPB and Sunnyvale bring in tourism? I haven't had the time to research if people can actually interact or get to tour the park?

They used to film in real parks during the first couple seasons but residents kept complaining and it was too much of a pain in the ### to keep doing so they built their own park. They got a bunch of run down trailers for $100 and built a set.

It did seem like a bit of an odd ending.

So Lahey doesn't have to go to jail? What did J-Roc think of his lady leaving with Doug? Did they set it up so that Snoop Dog comes back next season? Barbara's friends just walk away from her once she got the park?

I'd almost rather they treat it like their movies, bigger jobs with more production values.

The biggest surprise was regarding Ricky's father. That was a weird twist.

http://www.coveragemail.com/entertainment/mike-smith-arrested-at-the-hollywood-roosevelt-for-domestic-battery-in-california/

The 43-year-old actor was taken into custody after a verbal altercation with a woman allegedly turned violent.

The Canadian actor – whose show’s tenth season was released on Netflix just days earlier – was detained by Hollywood Police at 1.15am after witnesses reported a man and woman fighting in a bathroom at the Roosevelt Hotel.

The actor was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery but released just after 5am Friday morning on $20,000 bail, the Dailymail.com has confirmed.

Witnesses told TMZ that the Trailer Park Boys star and the woman were arguing in the restrooms near the hotel’s iconic pool and bar reportedly over who the actor was texting.

Witnesses claim they then heard the woman yell, ‘You’re chocking me’, and when they ran to help they say Mike pinning the woman against the bathroom wall.

That was easily the weakest season, the fighting between characters just dragged on far too long and for no real purpose. And the whole Barb crew was just cringeworthy bad

I thought it started out great but really got weaker as it went on.
It was like they got these celebrities but couldn't figure out what to do with them, as soon as snoop and co showed up the whole story grinded to a halt. But then out of nowhere, barb wins the park back, her crew disappears and everyone but Julian lives happy ever after.

I really wanted to see a big fight fight with candy, all we got was a weak wrestling match v Randy. Donna served no purpose other than making me grossed out (which probably was the purpose I guess) and I really got sick and ####ing tired of Lucy. The same storyline with her every episode.

I still enjoyed it, but the season left me wishing for something better

She apparently quit (or had made it known that she was planning on quitting) before the incident with Bubbles occurred.

Yeah that was going to be her last season anyway. My guess is she's just using that incident to try and look good

The show ran its course anyway. They ran out of ideas a few seasons ago and it's been just one upmanship for a while. To expand they are trying to be less Canadian and independent, which was 50% of the appeal.

Season 9 was the beginning of the end with Leslie Dancer and Donna, at that point they were just grasping for anything new.

Really shows that the original production team and director are gone.
Barrie Dunn and Mike Clattenburg really kept the shows "Canadianness" alive, which is what it's lacking now imo.

And I think the show agrees, I really got the feeling that the end of season 10 was a 'reset' so to speak. Barb owns the park again, Lahey re-hired a trailer park supervisor, Randy his assistant again, it's going to be a trailer park and not a retirement community, or a casino resort, etc. They're going to try and get back to their roots, with the boys doing stupid #### and lahey gunning after them

I hope they stop, the last season was so awkward.

Stealing money to start a grow op, maybe or maybe not getting that grow op sold then going to jail can only be told so many ways. The roots are Ricky and Julian committing crimes so they can sell drugs so they can retire, it started wearing thin and became 3 buddies drinking a few years ago. Was fun while it lasted, please stop now.

Yeah they moved on from some of the old favorites thinking if they evolved the show it could stay popular? Like Ricky dumping on Corey asking for smokes, getting pepperoni and jal-ap-eno chips and his limited speech.

I still like the show, but hate that they really watered down each character down into a bunch of one trick ponies.

For example, Lahey used to be a trailer park supervisor that took his job way too seriously. Reminded me of a guy on my Condo Board a few years ago, and I loved it. A few years ago literally all he brings is being a hilarious drunk, which I still enjoy, but he's almost more a prop than a character at this point.

I thought the newest season was pretty bad. Season 9 was pretty good though, so I'd like to see at least one more season before writing the show off.

And J-Roc has kind of pissed me off since the show came back. They kept trying to force the side plot with his kid and I just didn't care about it at all.

What I don't get is that J-Roc got famous at the end of one of the movies. He hit it big, had a big concert and sold his entire back catalogue. He should have been a millionaire but he went back to living with his mom still? Nearly his entire plotline revolved around his rapping. He hit it big rapping and then it stops and his character arc pretty much ended.

This was supposed to be him getting famous

BfvABLTdLoM

J-roc definitely had the most inconsistent storyline. In love with Sarah... random kid... what happened to T's kid? Isn't J-rocs kid just T's kid? They both had pregnant white women with them and then all of a sudden J-rocs kid is black and 13 years old?

That's weird, Trevor did a pretty long tell all about why he left the show and never mentioned either of them, he was mostly mad at Clattenburg and Dunn.

I started watching the new episodes from the "Out of the Park" season with the Europe trip and it is such garbage. I like pretty much all the Trailer Park Boys stuff and I even enjoyed the last season they released which wasn't great. This new stuff is pretty much not watchable though.

Like most shows, they're dragging it out way too long, and it hurts their legacy. I think the last episode I watched was the hash driveway. That was enough for me. Jumped the shark.

Imagine how pathetic Seinfeld would be if they tried to go on like the Simpsons. Aging, greying, single New Yorkers, that are still just trying to get laid. Jerry would be hung up on women eating their pills one at a time, George would be pissed off that wrinkles are ruining the pinkish hue, Elaine would be all out of sponges, just in time for menopause, and Kramer would have a vintage cane that he'd use to trip up the street toughs.

You make a solid point. Some shows just are not meant to go on. Trailer Park Boys was probably one of them, they had one formula; Ricky steals so he can grow pot, grows pot, tries to sell pot and ends up going to jail. After so many iterations they clearly ran out of ideas and it just became drinking buddies; the show.

Agreed. It probably felt most like the old seasons out of all the new seasons (8-11). It was nice to see Randy and Lahey playing the villains again.

I hope you pee your pants every time while singing it, for added immersion.

He sang that song to me!! Saw him at a college show about a decade ago, they did a Q&A after but I never got to ask anything. Later when you got to meet them, as I was shaking his hand I said I wish they had done the "propane propane" song during the performance. While still holding my hand, he started singing it to me, it was amazing!

Such a beauty, I was legit rattled to see that news yesterday. You could see his acting talent beyond the Leahy character, very talented performer and the most convincing alcoholic I've ever seen on TV. RIP
