CP sure gets a little more airtime on the FAN960 now. They credited us with breaking the NYI-OTT trade last week. What's the general mood towards this site around there?

He's part of the establishment now, get him! He sucks.
lol I've suspected this for a while but was so blown away I thought I must be wrong and was fearful of posting anything.
Congrats GF JH.
Oh and I know what he's up to. New CP podcast, suddenly it's getting actual guests on it.....he's a mole, a guest gatherer!

Awesome!
I don't usually listen to 960 outside of a live event, so I never know who's doing what there. Now that I know Jiri's working there, I'll be tuning in more often!
Congrats, man!

He was originally on 660 News. He'll occasionally show up on The Fan when they need someone to pinch hit. If you really want Grant Farhall in his rawest, pure form, try and find audio clips from his popular AM1060 shows, Financial Reckoning, Aboriginal Forum and Health Frontiers - Those are classic.

Do you have links to these famous productions?
JiriHrdina
03-09-2009, 12:15 PM
^Sadly no. I was able to salvage a few copies of the shows for my own records. It was my first gig in radio (StrayBullet was the producer of the shows). Health Frontiers in particular was fun to do as it was a chance to talk about some pretty cool issues with health care.
They were fun to do but I think Calgarypuck Radio actually probably has more listeners than those shows did.

I was going to mention that if you would like the audio send me your email address and I'll forward it over to you? (One day when your radio empire is complete you can look back in fond remembrance of your roots!)

I was thinking we need some kind of a contest that would include a Jiri "shout out."
I would want a stay-puft marshmallow man reference on a Wellwood update.

Since that was the first show I actually created from scratch I was pretty proud of it - and still think it was a great idea...and would be even more relevant in today's job market.
Ah well. Someday I'll bring that one back.

I'll be doing the colour commentary on the Fan for this Friday's Roughneck game with Pat Steinberg. That's a 7 pm start on Friday night from Edmonton.
Apart from that its hit and miss based on when Fan guys are away, but I'm scheduled to cover the 660 morning business desk for about 2 weeks so that's where I'll be for a bit. If you want to hear about how everything is in the crapper and how we are all screwed financially, you can listen in and hear that.

Naw. Its nice to have people listening. Its actually kinda cool how the web can be valuable marketing tool for broadcasters. I've been trying to use facebook as well to build our audience on Calgarypuck Radio and got a few messages from people after the last show that found it via facebook.
I like the interwebs.

Haha I am not a radio-stalker, just a fan of CP radio. Its well planned out, the topics are great and the speakers are (somewhat :D) knowledgable.

I've been sending a link of CP radio to some friends of mine.
Even my brother who lives in Minnesota - who also happens to be a Wild fan. :D Nontheless he still thinks you and D'Arcy put out a high quality product.

That's great thanks. We've notice in recent weeks the audience numbers have been growing - and I would think that's because we are pulling in listeners from outside the CP community. If people are telling their friends about the show that is a tremendous help.

A) Congrats on the colour gig, that is awesome and probably more what you would prefer as opposed to traffic and weather together on the ones! (Although you have saved me a few tickets for sure!)
B) If you ever need a guy to talk a bit of finance I know someone who would be more than happy to oblige!

I still wonder if a "special guest" like fotze would increase or decrease the listeners :PI would be terrible, bad idea. If jiri bobbled a name I'd just spend the rest of the time making fun of it until bingo popped me in the face, actually that might be funny.
