Perhaps a bit early for this question but it seems to be something coming up lately so why not...what team is your preferred first round playoff match-up for the Flames.

Tune in Wed at 8 pm to hear the results.

Oilers, but only if they make the playoffs. That is to say, I'd prefer it if they didn't make the playoffs altogether, but if they do, I'd want them to play us.

Otherwise I think I'd like to see Minnesota. Might be boring as hell, but we're doing very well against them lately, plus I don't see it being a physical series so that should bode well for us going forward.

Yeah I think the best first round match-up for the Flames are the Wild. Kipper has been dominant against them in his career and overall the team seems to play well against them.

The Wild for advancement purposes, but I wouldnt mind seeing a more fun team for them play against like Dallas or something.

I guess, as a Flames fan I'm always worried about winning, even when, like now, they seem to be taking care of it. I still want to see them win, so I pick Minnesota.

At the same time though, it would be awesome to see a Flames/Oilers first round, the only downside would be that the Oilers would have to make the playoffs which I'd much rather avoid. The more years of futility the Oilers experience the happier I am.

I picked the Canucks. The Wild would be good too, but I think Calgary can take Vancouver in a 7 game series, and the last time we did that, well... We had quite the run, non?

Oilers. I want to see the Flames pound them into the ground so I can hang that over Oilers fans heads for the next 25 years.

The Mild are lame. I'll take them first round and a more......stimulating team later in the playoffs.

I abstain from voting. I don't want to start thinking matchups in February. Talk to me in March.

I don't like inter-divisional match ups in the playoffs, so there goes Vancouver, Edmonton, Colorado, and Minnesota. I don't like the wildcard of Mason and Nash, so no Columbus.

Dallas is the most Easterly team left, thus I'm not starting to watch games at 11 like when we play teams like Anaheim.

I like that

Here's a question for CP. Is it better to get an easy match up first round that allows you to win quickly and rest, or is it preferable to be challenged and move on to the second round with a more battle hardened psyche?

Honestly I don't think there is a quick series to be had.

I'd take the easier one.

Remember when we seemed to run out of bodies in the end of 04?

For that reason I want to see Minny. Of course there's no guarantee that being in a series with them will be the easiest or least physical. Though I do think it's our best shot.

I would love a BOA, or to beat down Canucks.. But we have had the Wild number for a while, so I would feel we have the best chance with them.

I say Minny. Maybe a bit boring, but we've been playing really well against them this year.

Matching up against the Canucks scares me... but only because the 2003/2004 series was such a heart-stopper. Also, the rage I developed towards Canucks fans during those 7 games was a little unhealthy. ;) I prefer to avoid the stress of playing the Canucks if possible!

Pheonix because I think we'd sweep them. I don't need a dramatic first round series this season, lets get through it easy and save the drama for later rounds.
