I was talking to another poster last night about something that's near and dear to my heart (well not really, but something that's good for a cheap laugh) . . . commercials.

Throwing out the idea for a TV commercial draft. Possibly different categories based on business, and then maybe a PSA.

Thoughts?

That would be interesting MQS - I don't know if I could be inventive enough for it but it would be fun to try.

Might be hard to find youtubes for all our favorite ads.

Interesting. I was thinking about commercials too but thought it perhaps too limiting in itself. How about a youtube draft though compromising of some categories like commercials, sports moments, movie moments, tv moments, funny stuff, animals and things like that. There's loads of Youtube clips out there. Something like that could be fun and commercials could be part of that.

I think you fail to understand the power of the youtube.

Rather than start a separate thread for every draft idea, I'm going to piggy-back on this one. I think a great one would be an architecture draft: favorite skyscraper, favorite bridge, favorite hotel, favorite public building, favorite park, favorite pre-20th century, etc. I'm not sure it would have as many GMs as some of the other drafts, but it could be great for a small crowd.

I should also add that I don't know a whole lot about architecture, but it seems like there are a number of people on here who do know a lot, and I love reading their opinions.

Never though of this one, sounds interesting.
I'm not a huge fan of commercials, I usually flip the channel :)

Next draft I was thinking of was famous people.

Political Leaders
Generals
Inventors
Medival
Philosophers

I dunno. I don't have many categories.

I thought a super hero draft would be good. maybe something easy just like 5 DC, 5 Marvel, and 5 other

I like this one, you can also do sub categories like:
not from Earth
From Earth
team
Lamest (cause that could be an entire draft on its own)
woman
man
other
created by experiment gone wrong
Best Hero
Best Villain
introduced in different decades.

Sorry! Deep thinking, agonizing over picks, and yelling at others who took your choice is a prerequisite for all CP drafts.

Besides, are there even more than 100 superheroes?

for sure there has to be more than 100. Although there may be some people stuck with Robin. Maybe it could be Heroes/ Villains

Oh yeah I got a Marvel encyclopedia for Christmas last year and it has hundreds of people in it, and that is just Marvel.
By the way....:bag:

So I was thinking with the TV draft coming to an end it might be a good time to bump this thread. Does anyone have more ideas on what we make the next draft on?

OOooh, I'd LOVE to be a part of a superhero/villain/comic book character draft:nerd:

You guys can certainly start any type of draft.
The superhero/villain/comic book character draft sounds fun but I don't have a clue about it. I wouldn't be able to commish something I have no clue about.

Someone should start a workshop thread and gather interest. I'll help anyway I can.

A draft idea I had was to have a "Stud" or "Hunks" draft, you know, basically like the Hottie draft, except drafting men instead of women. I don't know how many people would be interested though?

Superflyer
02-13-2009, 10:25 PM
Well there are more women on here then I thought before the post your age, weight, pic, sign, blood type threads, so you may have enough to do that.

I'd be up for this one too :)

Definitely won't be as much interest as there was for the female draft, on this forum, though, haha.

Oh of course ;) haha but there's quite a few female posters I can think of off the top of my head. I'm guessing we could easily have 10 people in the draft, with the possibility of more people depending on interest.

What about a "Best of the Best" draft? Basically you pick the best in each cateogry.

Best Actor
Best Actress
Best Movie
Best TV Show
Best Hockey Player
Best Football Player
Best Baseball Player
Best Rock Band\Singer
Best Country Band\Singer
Best Pop Band\Singer
Best Video Game
etc. etc. etc.

Also you could have a worst of draft....

Anyone interested in a March Madness draft? I'd see it working best with a relatively small number of managers, say, eight managers who each draft eight teams. The draft would be finished before the tournament starts, and then we'd get points for how our teams perform in the tournament. Then you get a point for every win your team gets. So it would be different from a bracket system, since every team has only one owner.

What about a video game draft? Have a category for all the major platforms (Sony/Playstation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo), some year or genre categories, maybe a "Vintage" category where the game had to be originally released for Atari/original Nintendo/Sega. You could even have a "franchise" category, consisting of games that have more than 1 sequel.

Just a thought.

I was thinking that as well, I just did not know how to do it. Maybe by genre, first person shooter, RPG, Sports, war etc.

Yeah but they have been going on for like 6 months now. I think the thing is that I am not interested in those ones so I don't pay to much attention to them. Just my thoughts, obviously there are people that are into them just not me.

Probably a bad time since it's playoffs.

We can do a Hottie Draft II after the Flames win it all :D
