If you have a suggestion for a guest you would like us to "effort" for Calgarypuck Radio, please post it here.

You mean actual Flames players and staff, or infamous CP posters?

It would be great to get Conroy and Cammy on, at the same time.
Then, I'd like to hear 4X4 re-tell his camping adventure, and have him take calls.

I'd like to hear from the new guys. Almost anyone on the board should be familiar with the usual suspects after the games. I'd like to hear from the new guys and see what they're thoughts are of the team from playing against them, to what they expect from themselves this season.
I'd like to hear from Bingo about the history, and future of CP.

Maybe an interview with Okotoker (Ference) on fan/athlete interactions.

If you can get Jolene from the Fan960 on to talk about Manscaping part deux it would skyrocket the ratings.

Some of the media that cover the team. Where do some of their stories come from, are there things off limits, are there things they must ask because that it is their job but know they really don't want to ask, is the rivalry between outlets or just other writers in general, are there teams/players/agents who try an leak stuff to "spin" stories and how do those situations get handled?
Just stuff about the behind the scenes of how a story is put together.

Ha! Wouldn't it be nice to get Doh!biggen on the CP Hotseat. :D
Maybe get Mango on the show to talk about her experiences working in the radio end of broadcasting and her brief stint as the 20/20 update gal for the Fan.

I like this idea.
Seeing/hearing about what goes on behind the scenes, whether it be the scouts, or media, people working in the arenas, the marketing/promotions people, etc. That is all interesting stuff to me.

But in all seriousness what about Randy Sportak or Jean Lefebvre, they are both signed up here, and it would be great to get some media personalities on there.

Craig Conroy
Andrew Ference
Rhett Warrener
Gus Thorson
Tod Button and/or Mike Sands
Jamie McLennan

Some ideas...
Some former 1st round picks that came through the Calgary farm club before making the NHL (doesn't have to be playing for the Flames now, or playing at all) who also was developed in another teams farm club to compare/contrasts development concepts between different teams. (ie. Brooks Orpik was a guy who sounded off about Pittsburg's)
Some former Flames from the mid-late 90's to bring us back to the ol' days (for me anyways)... what was it like for Todd Simpson to be captain, what was Zarley Zalapski like, how did it turn out that Rick Tabaracci got traded for the Kidd/Roloson duo.
QC play by play or coaching staff, to talk about some lesser known prospects, like what Chucko has to do to make the bigs.
whoever manages the business of the Flames, to talk about their ideology of the cap era, where they see the economics going, what difficulties they see going on.
maybe some idea of where we are with a new arena
For CP posters, Cowperson and Lanny (I know Lanny is gone)
some former head coaches to talk about the evolution of the game to where we are now, from the trap era and so on
Craig Button, to talk a little more about where he was planning on going with the Flames identity before he got sacked. (ie. the Regehr-Morris combo he envisioned)Not to be anal, but what I hope I don't see is the CP inside jokes going from the msg board to air, ie. hookers and blow, hale storm, fata and so on.

I'd really like to hear from any guest who is willing to be candid about any aspect of the team that we are not privy to as fans, say covering the team for print, or for TV/radio, the day-to-day operations of the club and such.

Our goal is to create a show that is focused on the CP community but is also accessible to someone not familiar with calgarypuck and the lingo.
I'm not a fan of inside jokes on radio at all. The show will develop it's only natural "language" as all shows do. We won't be forcing it.
Great input overall. Thank you.

I agree with other posters that would like to see the "atypical" sports talk show. It would be great if you could find guests that we won't hear on the Fan or TSN or Sportsnet.
Some ideas:
Former Flames players from the 1980s that would talk candidly about about the Battle of Alberta glory years. (Colin Paterson, Joel Otto type guys)
Doug Risebrough or someone from his front office to discuss the underachievement and subsequent dismantling of that talented early 90s team.
Gus Thoreson or someone from the current team staff to talk about day to day life with the Flames and the long grind of the NHL season.

We need someone who would go "Undercover", where we don't know their identity and use one of thoes garbled voices to give us some "Inside" stuff. Like we could ask questions, and they could give simple "YES"... "NO" .. "I don't know" answers..
Someone who's maybe on the "INSIDE" and can't really give up the goods.. Like a former player, Rink Rat, Operations, current player, whatever.
They could answer questions directly from the Forum, the Hosts or callers.
I think you could have alot of fun with that...

CRTC does not apply to independant internet-based radio unless you are somehow exploiting children. Looking for a link right now...
EDIT: CRTC can and will report you to the owners of any copyrighted material you illegally use though, if they catch wind of it.

News Release
May 17, 1999
CRTC WON’T REGULATE THE INTERNET
OTTAWA-HULL — The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) announced today that it will not regulate new media services on the Internet.
After conducting an in-depth review under the Broadcasting Act and the Telecommunications Act beginning last July, the CRTC has concluded that the new media on the Internet are achieving the goals of the Broadcasting Act and are vibrant, highly competitive and successful without regulation. The CRTC is concerned that any attempt to regulate Canadian new media might put the industry at a competitive disadvantage in the global marketplace.
"By not regulating, we hope to support the growth of new media services in Canada," says Françoise Bertrand, CRTC Chairperson. "The CRTC is one of the first regulators in the world to clarify its position on the Internet."

I was going to say that, actually. Roofie is a great guy, and I'm sure, if he has time, he'd be happy to do it. Just drop him an email (aroof@qcflames.com) and see what he has to say, tell him J sent ya
If he won't do it, I bet there's a QC fan that would be able to do it once a week

One topic that I think was mentioned yesterday that too many here take for fact is that life in Canada/USA (both personally and professionally) are better then overseas - I think this was mentioned somewhere about "who wants to play in Moscow." Now to me, if I were given the option to live anywhere as a young athlete, I don't think Calgary or Edmonton would be my first choice. I can't see Philly or Detriot or Pittsburg or Buffalo being first on anyone's list either, and would rather be in Stockholm then Detriot. Yet we are under the notion that it is desirable to play in NA over Russia which may not necessary be true. Also, we sometimes overlook the perks to playing overseas in Sweden, Finland, Czech, etc.
So a good topic would be to get a roundtable (if possible) of some guys that did play overseas and aside from the prestiege of the league and the cup, how life differs between Canada, Sweden, Russia, Finland, Switzerland, Italy, Japan et al and what their preference. Might be hard, but some digging of some lower end pro's like Giordano, Tkaczuk, Fata, McLennan and so on might work.

In the first show, Bingo provided a brief history of CP. How about getting Mike Board or Photon on there to talk more in depth about the history of our beloved Calgary Puck? I'm sure either of these two would be able to contribute to more Flames- or hockey-centric talk but I for one would like to gain more insight into the genesis of the site and the technical details that keep CP running.

Call D'ohboy and ask him for an interview, but tell him its for "Vancouver Puck" and watch the Flames bashing show and then WHAM!
I actually mean, play some WHAM! over the crap that comes out of his mouth.

That's funny.. Bruce starts talking, D'Arcy turns on Wham, Bruce looks at Grant, Grant shrugs, starts dancing a little.
Bruce stops talking, D'Arcy stops the Wham, Bruce turns to ask what the hell is going on, and D'Arcy turns on the Wham again.
Bruce's ego would keep him in the chair.

He guests don't all have to be well-known journalists. They can also be prominent, long-time posters to CP. There are posters here who I find to be more knowledgeable than many hockey journalists.

Agree 100%. An additional viewpoint, idea, or opinion from somebody who knows their stuff adds something to any podcast, no matter the topic, and no matter if they're well-known or undiscovered. Content, content, content.
