Channel 808 on ExpressVu will be showing the US FOX HD Feed and will not be blocking the US Commercials.

ExpressVu channels 807 and 808 are reserved for additional HD broadcasts that ExpressVu makes available to its subscribers from time to time. Outside of Toronto and Vancouver and surrounding regions, ExpressVu subscribers will know if they are authorized under the same regulatory rules applied to all Canadian TV Services providers to receive FOX High Definition broadcasts (including US commercials) by checking these channels in their Electronic Programming Guide (EPG). If they do not appear, it is because the regulations prohibit the airing on non-substituted FOX High Definition broadcasts.

I can't find anything on the Starchoice or Shaw websites....are they doing this also?

I am in Victoria and the channel works fine for me...are they allowing it in Calgary?

I remember they did last year. So was expecting it, I'm glad it's true.

Is this for everyone who has Expressvu or do you have to subscribe to that channel? I don't have that channel on my guide.

I think this is only for HD subscribers as CTV is pretty well Canada wide in SD.

It should be for everyone who has Expressvu that isn't in Toronto or Vancouver. It probably has something to do with the simsub rules as Toronto and Vancouver both have CTV HD Over The Air transmitters in those cities so they can block the Fox signal in those areas.

Do you have HD? And where do you live? It is only available in some markets and if you have the HD pack.

With Shaw, the FOX channels in the 80s and 200s are always the US feed for whatever they are showing. (Cant remember the exact channel numbers). There should be a couple of other FOX channels depending on your cable package.

Yes. Shaw only simsubs the basic cable channels (so CFCN-3 over KAYU-22). They don't do anything with the EST digital feeds or the HD feeds.

The channel isn't showing up for me. (On my 6100)

Tried the forced re-boot. Now got it unplugged- see what happens. Anybody else having issues?

Got it now- had to call in.

Basically because I was an HD customer since June 2005 I had a legacy HD package, and needed to get it updated. No extra cost.

Spoke to a nice knowledgeable lady based out of Winnipeg who spoke perfect English. And after I got through with the "Press 1" I got her within a few seconds. Good job on Bell's CSRs!

The shaw digital channels 80s and the HD channels 200s as someone mentioned earlier always show the US feed for the games.

I don't think so.

Because technically if they did, they would be breaking the rules about substituting CFCN onto them.

Yes, they end up putting CFTO and the Vancouver CTV onto the respective feeds; but that just makes people want to see local commercials.

HD they can get away with it because there's no HD feed in Calgary for CFCN.

Hmph. I have the same issue as you, but having the exact opposite experience with my call. The guy doesn't understand english, doesn't speak it well, doesn't even understand my problem, and then tells me that only people in Vancouver and Toronto get that channel.

Now I'm going through all sorts of technical diagnostics completely unrelated to my issue.

I hate Bell. Too bad I hate Shaw more.

Well that was funny. I had to stop him from telling me to try all those diagnostics and actually explain to him about calgarypuck.com and how someone here found the problem. I told him exactly what to do to fix it, and 5 minutes later, I had the channel.

The Bell guy I am talking to has no idea what I am talking about.

What exactly should I tell him to do?

EDIT: He FINALLY got it. I just kept telling him "Refresh my HD package"! I had to turn down about 20 requests to add SD channels. I finally said "Anything in SD Can go to hell!"

I think I had my HD package updated when I phoned in to complain I wasn't getting A&E HD even though I was getting it in SD, so I had to specifically request they add it to my package. I guess this took me off the Legacy package and now I'm waiting for the shoe to drop in the way of a HD price increase. Somehow I don't really trust Bell, and I may go from this http://forum.calgarypuck.com/images/icons/icon7.gif to this http://forum.calgarypuck.com/images/icons/icon8.gif.
