My wife had a stroke last year and has lost the use of her left arm. She always feels so left out when we play Xbox or PS3 at friends houses because all the games require the use of both hands. I'd like to look into getting a Wii for her, but am wondering just how many games are out there that you can play with only one hand, like the bowling and tennis games. Are there many more for the system that you don't need two working thumbs to play?

she can play as the second player on mario galaxy. It's actually quite fun . . . 2nd player can get pick-ups, hold enemies down and shoot things.

Mario party also only uses the wiimote . . . can be a blast in groups.

I'll add more as I think of them.

edit: wario ware and wii play don't need the other hand, but I probably wouldn't recommend either.

There's quite a few games that only use the Wiimote.

Warioware would be a good pick. Mario Party 8 would likely work too.

There's also a bunch of rail shooter games (like Ghost Squad) that would work. Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 has a rail shooter mode too in addition to the regular FPS gameplay.

A good idea would be to go to someone like Future Shop or EB Games and just check on the back of the box what games only use the Wiimote. Take a look and see what games interest you and then come here or go to a site like www.ign.com to see if they're worth buying.

Zack and Wiki
Wii Sports (most games) and Wii play
Lots of the trivia type games like that Cranium and Smarty Pants ones

I know there are more too but I can't think of them. If you go to EB games or Future shop you can look on the back of games and it tells you if it needs the nunchuk or not.

EDIT: Also the second player in Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, Zack and Wiki and Mario Galaxy (mentioned) only require the Wii remote.

Awesome, thanks guys. I was expecting there to be very few games that use only the Wiimote, like just the cheesy mini games. I'm glad to hear there's other "real" games that we can get for her.

Now to try and actually find a Wii in stock somewhere.

Forgot about Zack and Wiki - it's a must buy for any Wii owner.
