So if one has an HD digital video camera, how do you transfer the video that you shoot onto a disk (as opposed to your PC) in order to watch it on your HD TV without hooking up the camera? There is no current way to burn to HD-DVD or Blu-Ray, is there?

Easiest way is probably to buy a HD-DVD or Blu-Ray burner for your PC, move the video there and burn it to a disk.

Alternatively, I'm sure there are recorder's for the two formats.

You need a avchd camcorder in order to do that. quite easy if you have a sony hd harddrive cam. it's one button. But you need a ps3 in order to play it back but you can burn the content onto a regular dvd.

You can burn 30-60 minutes of hd in hd dvd format to a regular dvd using a regular dvd burner, and then play it in a hd dvd player. There should be some good deals on hd dvd players now!
