Flames coach Ryan McGill wouldn’t argue that fact, but neither was he willing to put the whole of the blame on his young goalie, who he pulled after that second-period Admirals goal.
Instead, the coach pointed to Tim Ramholt’s poor defense on the Pihlstrom goal — “Played that like a bantam house league hockey player,” said the coach — and then emphatically lamented the inability of many of his offensive players to fire the puck on target.
“We have had a problem of late hitting the net,” he said. “We have had a consistent year not hitting the net. When you have a lack of firepower, you are going to be getting behind.”
