"Both of them have a lot of speed on their skates and they provide energy that we need," Keenan said. "They're youthful and they make young mistakes, but they go hard on the forecheck and they keep getting better every day."
Keep it up, boys!

It's good to see both of them doing well

Seems like the QC didn't really get to see Nystrom at all. Any resentment that they potentially lose their star players like this every now and then? Guess it's the nature of the (farm) beast.

I don't mind it at all. Yes, I would have liked to see him a bit more, but I think it's great that he's made a place for himself with the big club. I don't really mind Boyd being gone, as I didn't think he was playing well down here.

well Eric Nystrom is about 32 years old now. every Flames affiliate doesn't get their chance to see him:)
just kidding
no doubt its the nature of the beast. like here in Calgary where we thought we'd get Ken Griffey, except for the part about him being too good for AAA ball

The Nystrom story is a great one ... and a great lesson for this site as to the patience required for prospects to pan out. Not every young player jumps in as a Sidney Crosby and runs with it. They all have different styles, expectations, and paths to the NHL.
Should fans be worried when injuries and poor seasons suggest that a prospect is fading? Of course, and aften they'll be right in doing so. But to write guys off? Often too hasty.

Nystrom has been a beast for the Flames, and is definately getting better every day. He does remind me of Yelle from a few years ago. Blocks shots, always in the right spot defensively, and never, ever, gives the puck away in his own zone. If he touches it, he'll clear it.
Maybe he could teach Nolan a thing or two about making sure it gets out... ;)

I kind of like the developmental aspect. The teams (like Chicago) in the AHL that rely more on veteran players may rack some wins early in the season like this, but the upside to a team like QC is higher. By the end of the season when a lot of these guys aren't really rookies any more, they should be a lot of fun to watch and may be able to hang with anybody.
And of course seeing some guys make it to the NHL is neat too.

I really don't mind it, either. When guys do well, it's neat to see them make progress. And that opens up a spot for someone else. The neat thing about this level is that there's much more parity, so losing a guy doesn't hurt quite so much as it might.
We knew what was going to happen coming in. Maybe it's the newness of the whole thing that it doesn't seem so bad....
And I'm with DS. Boyd is doing much better in Calgary than he was in the QC!

Boyd just wasn't gettin it done . When he was in QC he wasn't getting the passes to utilize his speed. And when you take his speed out of the game he became an average player .
Last year him and Taratukin and Moss had a real knack for
the nice passes and plays . Plus puck moving defencemen , Gio and regehr Junior for the first bit , and then Skinner and Lee could make out the first pass .
QC is a slow man's game . Muck it on out and get some ugly goals .
