This is the 26th game of the year for the Flames, the 22nd game of the year for the Rivermen, and AHL game #352 on the season. This is the fifth meeting of the year between Quad City and Peoria. Quad City won their first game against the Rivermen last night. Peoria is the AHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues.
Scouting Quad City:
Record: 11-11-1-2, fifth place in the Western division
Leading scorers: Points - Grant Stevenson: 9-11-20. PIM - Brandon Prust: 75. Goaltending - Brent Krahn, GAA: 2.15, Save%: .923
Last time out: Quad City made a great come back from down 2-0 to the Rivermen last night. Krys Kolanos scored the tying goal with 18 seconds left, then QC killed off a 5 on 3 powerplay in overtime to get the game to a shootout, which they won.
Around the corner: Quad City flies down to Texas to play the San Antonio Rampage on Wednesday and Friday, then fly back to Illinois to play the Icehogs of Rockford on Saturday.
Notable roster news: Goaltender Brian Hamilton was released from his PTO contract today, as Kevin Lalande was called up from ECHL Las Vegas. Dustin Boyd, Eric Nystrom, and Curtis McElhinney remain on call-up with Calgary. Gerry Burke remains called up to QC.
Scouting Peoria:
Record: 9-7-2-3, last place in the Western division
Leading scorers: Points - Charles Linglet: 6-13-19. PIM - Hans Benson: 61. Goaltending - Chris Beckford-Tseu, GAA: 2.77, Save%: .901
Last time out: See above
Notable roster news: No roster moves since yesterday.
Random fact associated with today's game: The voices of the Peoria Rivermen may be familiar to Quad City hockey fans. Both play by play man Tom Callahan and color guy Dave Rak were, at one time, calling games in the old United Hockey League, for the Elmira Jackals and Missouri River Otters respectfully. Also, as last night's broadcast informed those of us that are listening, Mr. Callahan has a recipe for a great garlic chutney chili.(How's that for random?) There will also be a good contingent of Flames fans down in Peoria tonight.
