Has anyone heard that David Cullen is on his way to QC from Färjestads BK?

He seems like a pretty solid D-man ... maybe a real power play quarterback?

:EDIT:

I wonder if that means Hambly is potentially out for quite a while?

This is one of these things that only Calgarypuck could scrounge up from the remotest outposts of the Internet... Amazing find UKFlamesFan!

Sounds like a replacement for Hambly indeed.

Ken King and Darryl Sutter had a big pow-wow with the QC brass a few weeks back, the upshot being there'd be a few AHL-level signings of older pros to supplement the team. Krys Kolanos is one, sounds like this Cullen feller could be another.

I heard the same thing the weekend it happened....when the whole organization was down here. Since the Koming of Krys, the frustration level of the staff appears to have racheted down several notches!

Hope Cullen can be as good an addition!

Can Per Jonsson be brought over without clearing waivers?

According to this (http://canadianpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5hRc0AaGDaGwKkzxedjr73dcjY0aw) and this, (http://areyouwatchingthis.com/ahl/news/44244) he was claimed off of American Hockey League waivers.

Checking, he played for Rochester from 2003-2006, then he went to Germany last season and started in Farjestads this season.

And this, (http://amerks.com/PressReleases.aspx?news_id=833) from the Amerks, says he was an unrestricted free agent at the end of 2006.

I don't even pretend to know how all of this works... Could Rochester still have held his AHL rights?? And, if so, why can't I find an AHL posting where he was put ON waivers??

Someone from QC pointed me in the right direction... (http://www.hartfordwolfpackhockey.com/WolfPackNews/Rules.htm)

Ever wondered how the waiver rules work? Here's a basic explanation:
Any player who has played three seasons since signing his first NHL contract or has played 180 NHL games must clear waivers before he is assigned to a minor league affiliate.
Once a player is placed on waivers, teams have 48 hours to put in a claim on that player. If more than one team places a claim, the team with the lower number of points in the previous season is awarded the player. If no team places a claim, the player can be sent to a minor league affiliate.
When a player clears waivers and is sent down then is called up again, he would not have to clear waivers to be sent down again unless he's played 10 games or been "up" for 30 days.

According to the notes at the end of this article (http://www.syracuse.com/poststandard/stories/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1196503527176960.xml&coll=1&thispage=2), Cullen had signed a deal with QC that had to be negated when Syracuse claimed him off waivers....

He was a -1 and was called for hooking in his first game last night with the Crunch. (http://www.syracuse.com/poststandard/stories/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/119658959130110.xml&coll=1&thispage=2) Maybe if he underperforms....

What a team we would have then!

Who could we give up, though? Almost everyone belongs to Calgary....

get permission from Calgary. If Calgary gives permission for u to trade strictly in the AHL level. The prospect can is still with Calgary, just not developing with you...

I think thats How Brent Krahn got to play in San Antonio one year.
