This is the 20th game of the year for the Flames, the 18th game of the year for the Icehogs, and it is AHL game #259 on the season. It is the second meeting between the two teams. The first meeting was the first in the AHL for both clubs, and saw QC win 5-1. It is the first time this season that Quad City has made the trip to Rockford. The Flames are 6-1-0-0 in their last 7 games. Rockford is the AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks.

Scouting Quad City:
Record: 8-8-1-2, Tied for fourth place in the Western division
Leading scorers: Leading scorers: Points - Grant Stevenson: 7-7-14. PIM - Brandon Prust: 56. Goaltending - Brent Krahn, GAA: 1.50, Save%: .946
Last time out: The Flames hosted the Iowa Stars two days ago, and fell behind 1-0 in the first period. However, backstopped by a tremendous game by netminder Brent Krahn, the Flames were able to storm back and pull out a come-from-behind 3-1 victory to vault them into a tie for fourth place in the division.
Around the corner: No rest for the weary as the Flames return home tomorrow night to host the Peoria Rivermen. Quad City has two games this coming week, one on the road in Chicago on Tuesday, then back to back home games on Friday and Saturday against the Milwaukee Admirals and Manitoba Moose, respectively.
Notable roster news: Just before Wednesday's game against Iowa, Calgary called up Quad City foward Dustin Boyd to the NHL. In turn, the QC Flames called up Adam Cracknell from ECHL Las Vegas. Curtis McElhinney and Eric Nystrom also remain on call-up to Calgary.

Scouting Rockford:
Record: 10-4-2-1, third place in the Western division
Leading scorers: Points - Martin St. Pierre: 7-13-20. PIM - Colin Fraser: 67. Goaltending - Wade Flaherty, GAA: 2.65, Save%: .929
Last time out: Rockford has not played since Sunday, November 18th when they beat Toronto Marlies, in Toronto, by a score of 5-3.
Next match up: The Flames and Icehogs meet only once more this calendar, in Rockford on December 15th.
Notable roster news: Recently, forwards Jake Dowell and Kris Versteeg were called up to the Chicago Blackhawks. David Bolland was returned to the Icehogs from the Blackhawks as well.

Random fact associated with tonight's game: A rivalry that lasted eight years in the United Hockey League continues in the AHL, and saw the two teams regularly met between 16 and 20 times a season for those years, will now see the two teams lock up only eight times this year. Quad City's overall record against the Rockford, including the two teams' eight playoff matchups and one AHL clash, is 56-34-10(all shootout losses in the UHL). The AHL record sits at 1-0-0-0

It's 4-3 for QC after 2 periods. Van der Gulik has 2 goals and Cracknell and Peters with the others.

From what I saw of the game(video feed was messed up for the first 11 minutes, and it messed up my recorder), it was very good. The Flames dominated the second, and withstood heavy pressure in the third. The Germyn fight stemmed from a boarding call that wasn't made earlier in the game.

The team is coming together, things continue to look up.

Good to see the farm team getting it together. A few of those guys who didn't start well seem to be coming around. I imagine you guys in the Quad enjoy any win against Rockford, just like we enjoy beating up on Edmonton.

Absolutely. If you asked 100 Flames fans, I would bet that 97 of them would say that they want to see the Flames beat Rockford more than any other team.

How'd Krahn play? Nice to see him pick up another win. Also I'm going to assume Keetley gets the start tomorrow.

Van der Gulik seems to be playing great now, and Stevenson and Kolanos seem to have cooled just a bit. A good sign that the team doesn't have to lean on just one or two guys for offence, and that anyone can contribute on any given night. Great also to see Cracknell score after being called up.

Krahn's play was outstanding tonight! Several times there were "ohs" and "ahs" from the Rockford fans after some of his saves. Don't know how many shots he faced....the Rockford arena is under construction until 2008 and is totally screwed up. One entire side of the arena (the one we were sitting on, of course!) can't see shots or penalties. Kinda a different way to watch a game!!

The boys played well in front of Krahn, killing off one 4-minute penalty and a couple of nearly consecutive 2-minute ones. They definitely controlled play in the first....Cracknell's goal was very nice!....and Rockford pulled their starter after our fourth goal near the beginning of the second. I was glad to see the second period end, since we seemed less in control toward the end of that period. Our last goal was a rocket, a real beauty...and the guys did an outstanding job when Rockford pulled their goalie with about three minutes left. Thought for sure that Vandy would get his hat trick with an empty netter, but guess the hockey gods weren't buying into the plan....

A great game to watch. It's so fun to see the team improve and play together better and better. We had much more speed than Rockford. They hit harder, but we had better control of the puck. Hope they can keep it up!!

He was playing with Kolanos a lot tonight....and was very visible on the ice. Thanks for giving him back. I hope we get to keep him!!!

Nice to see the farm doing so well when the big club is seemingly in dire straits.

It wasn't that long ago that QC was in dire striates and we all were on cloud 9 about Kiprusoff signing long term. Just goes to show how quickly things can turn around.

I know David van der Gulik is a bit of a buzzsaw like Nystrom, I wonder if a few more consistant, solid games would land him a job in Calgary? I'd really love to see some young intensity inserted into this team.

I've never thought of him that way, I've always thought of him as a solid two-way player but not someone you'd expect a lot of physicality or chippiness from...

I do think he'll get his cup of coffee in Calgary, and maybe more.

Krahn was excellent again. He had one glove save in particular in the 3rd that was simply spectacular.
