This is the 14th game of the year for the Flames, and the 11th game of the year for the Lake Erie Monsters. It is the first meeting between the two teams, and AHL game #184 on the season. The Flames are in a prime position for their first back-to-back wins of the season, against the second worst team in the league. This is the first game of a five game road trip for the Flames. Lake Erie is the AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche.

Scouting Quad City:
Record: 3-7-1-2, tied for 7th place in the Western division
Leading Scorers: Points - Grant Stevenson: 4-6-10. PIM - Brandon Prust - 45.
Last time out: Quad City snapped their seven game winless streak with a 4-1 thumping of the Houston Aeros.
Around the corner: The Flames play a rare morning game on Tuesday in Grand Rapids, an 11am CST start time. Then Quad City is back in Cleveland to take on the Monsters on Thursday, and they wrap up next with their first ever trip to Des Moines to take on the Iowa Stars.
Notable roster news: Eric Nystrom and Matt Keetley remain on call-up with Calgary.

Scouting Lake Erie:
Record: 2-7-0-1, last place in the North division
Leading Scorers: Points - Eric Healey: 4-3-7. PIM - Dale Purinton(suspended) - 26, Cody McLeod - 22.
Last time out: The Monsters haven't played a game since last Sunday, losing to the Houston Aeros 2-1 in a shootout.
Next matchup: The Flames and Monsters hook up again on Thursday in Cleveland.
Notable roster news: The Monsters were assigned Jason Bacashihua from the Avalanche, who acquired him in a trade with St. Louis. Bacashihua played for the Peoria Rivermen earlier this season. The Avalanche also recently re-assigned to the Monsters. He is yet to play a game for them.

Random fact(s) associated with tonight's game: The Lake Erie Monsters had over 15,000 fans at their home opener, but in the four games since, they haven't drawn 15,000 combined. A secondary random fact, journeyman defenseman, and puke, Dale Purinton was suspended for 25 games on October 19th for a hit to the head, from behind, on an Iowa Stars player. Yet a third random fact associated with tonight's game - The Great Lakes Brewing Company, located in Cleveland, makes one of the best porters I've ever had the pleasure of tasting - the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Try not to become "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald", unless you really want to.

The score after the first period is 1-0 Flames. Cam Cunning had his best Pele impression and kicked a beauty of a pass behind the Monsters goalie. There is no video replay in the AHL though, so the goal counted :D Flames are dominating, the shots are 14-4 for the boys from QC.

The only reason the Monsters were even close, let alone tied, was their goalie Mike Wall. He made 42 saves, I think the final number was. Great game, I'll try to get video highlights up tonight, but no promises.

It sounded like the Flames dominated overtime, but again, even when they dominate it seems like the puck rarely goes in the net.

Let's keep it going vs the Griffins!
