This is the fifth game of the year for the Flames. They make their first trip to the Van Andel in Grand Rapids to take on the Griffins. The Griff's are the AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings.

Scouting QC:
Record: 1-2-0-1
Leading Scorer: Points - Hambly: 3-2-5. PIM - Cam Cunning: 16
Last time out: The Flames scored one point for a shootout loss to the Peoria Rivermen. Quad City had a goal waived off when Grant Stevenson was called for goaltender interference, despite being blatantly pushed into the Rivermen netminder.
Around the corner: The Flames have a home and home series with the Milwaukee Admirals this coming week; at Milwaukee on Wednesday the 24th, and returning to the iMark© on Friday the 26th

Scouting Grand Rapids:
Record:3-1-0-0
Leading Scorer: Mark Cullen: 1-4-5. PIM - Brad Ference: 12
Last time out: The Griffins were spanked 5-1 by the Rockford Icehogs last night, suffering their first loss of the season.
Next match up: The Flames and Griffins don't play again until Tuesday, November 13th. The game will be played at 10am CST.

Random fact associated with today's game - In 1945, Grand Rapids was the first city in the U.S. to add fluoride to its drinking water. Also, the Van Andel Arena bares a striking resemblance to the Flames home rink, the iMark©

Three things I'd like to see from today's game:
1. The Flames outshoot their opponent in a period other than the 3rd.
2. The Flames not allowing any goals within seconds of scoring a goal themselves.
3. The Flames score more than 2 goals.

I wanted to learn what the heck a griffin was. Another fun fact, courtesy of Wikipedia:
The griffin is a legendary creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. As the lion was traditionally considered the king of the beasts and the eagle the king of the birds, the griffin was thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature.
The automaker Saab uses the head of a griffin wearing a crown in their logo.

You guys are just a wealth of information!! I feel so much smarter...

They held 'em off for 10 minutes in the first, pioneer, so maybe you'll get your wishes.

Boyd just got called 3 seconds into the 2nd while the Flames had a PP.... If we only didn't have to play the second period!!! ;)

They were outshot in both the 1st and 2nd so far. But they do have a whole period to try to get more than 2 goals in a game.

Lalande makes 23 saves for the 3-2 win. Good to see him get untracked. Stevenson scores two goals despite the Flames only mustering 15 shots with Stevenson getting 6 of them.

Good stuff. Stevenson sounds like he was the only one on his game tonight offensively, and did enough to secure the W.

Are there going to be more video highlights of the Quad City Flames?

Yes. Friday's nights feed messed up, so I have to encode it. I have tonight's game as well, but I have to do actual work until probably 2 or 3 am, so I'll have to take care of the highlights tomorrow.

Until today, they've mostly been lowlights since the first game....;)

Good thing we had Stevenson on the ice today!

And Lalande did a very good job. Hope he's leveling out and settling in a bit....

I see Ryder was back in the lineup; assit on the Ramholt goal. Any word on why he missed the last game?

He was a healthy scratch, but that's all that was said about it.

Video highlights coming sometime this evening. Work doesn't understand that I have more important things to do, and they keep telling me to do stuff for them
