Some dip#### from Vancouver who was somehow involved with Canadian Idol of some other awful kareoke TV show. Have seen a video clip of a gimmick song called "Kaching", horrible song along the lines of "Pretty Fly for a White Guy".

I'm pretty stoked to see them. The lineup just keeps getting better.
One of the things I missed the most by not going last year was the comedians. They've got some good ones this year too. Tim Heidecker and Natasha Leggaro should be fun to see.

the Garth Brooks show is such a massive deal for Calgary. Not only will you get people coming in from across Alberta for the show, but people will come in from across the world to see Garth. Hopefully the Stampede has more than just the one show planned. He could easily do 5 or 6, if not more.

Correct me if I am wrong but Garth always did the flat rate tickets. He doesnt believe money should buy close seats but instead, everyone should have a chance at sitting close.
(Vegas was different because he didnt have the final say on it)
Also, Garth was known in the past to announce additional shows so I am thinking its a sure thing for the Stampede. I wouldnt be surprised to see at least 4. Either way, I am on my computer at 945 am this Saturday ensuring everything is ready to go.

The next two nights the dome is booked for Johnny Reid and then Brad Paisley so it would have to be earlier. I'd be somewhat surprised if there are more added, but hope there are. More concerts means a better chance I'll manage to get tickets for one.

Ticketmaster's servers do some weird time release process (almost always releasing a few crap tickets, then a bit better later, then a bit better later) to try to maximize ticket sales. I assumed for a sure sell-out that might not happen but I'm assuming it has.
I recommend trying intermittently but the Ticketmaster servers will ban your IP without warning for 48 hours if they decide you've hit the page too much.

Just going to post this again:

Ticketmaster/livenation specifically sets aside large amounts of tickets to be sold by a third party through stubhub, especially for big names like Garth Brooks. Obviously there is a lot more money to be split through this scam, none going to the artist. This is why so many tickets are available immediately on stubhub everytime, they aren't even subtle about it.

xFest Calgary once again books the best festival 12 years removed, September 1 at Fort Calgary.
The site seems to be down right now, but here's the line up:
Linkin Park
Incubus
Silvers Pickups
Young The Giant
Fun
The Joy Formidable
Mutemath
The Pack AD
L.P.
A bit of a gear grinder that they seem to be able to get great acts for One Weekend Only each year, yet the big "showcase" festival ends up looking like getting bands that didn't tour here during the prime, so they book em a decade later (STP, Weezer, Pearl Jam, Linkin Park, Incubus).

Doh, correct you are. The two fest kinda bled into each other in my mind there. Either way, still kinda under whelmed that the Alberta summer festivals seem to be setting the bar low.
In my mind they should be competing with the Sasquatch's & Osheaga's of the world, not just settling for "Well they've never visited Alberta before".
But honestly I'm just being nit picky here, we've got Sled Island, we've got xFest, between those two we've got polar opposites of Alternative Rock covered right here in Calgary.

Can't beat the $50 early bird tickets for xfest.
At that price I'm tempted to go despite my belly aching. Last year they were blowing out 2 for 1 tickets on Groupon shortly before xFest and I missed out and kept hoping they'd blow em out a second time which never seemed to come.
$90 a pop is a bit much for a couple ($180 just for tickets) but $100 for a pair is more than fair.

Yeah and ####ty thing with the RCHP tour is that they're all "paperless tickets" which is essentially will call where you have to provide credit card/ID. So can't flip them at all. I now have seats in the lower bowl and on the floor which I guess I'll have to try to get a friend or something to come with.

X92.9 Calgary's New Rock Alternative (http://www.facebook.com/x929calgary)
X92.9 and UnionEvents want to help Calgarians avoid being "Garth Brooked" with X-FEST Early Bird tickets this coming Monday by staging an "old fashioned" line up of 100 lucky patrons to buy tickets in person at the X studios a full hour before they are available online to X-ARMY and UnionEvents members.
Soooo, at 9am that day the first 100 people lined up outside the X studios will be wrist banded to buy one pair of Early Bird tickets for only $55 (this includes a reduced service charge)
Please Note: This will be a CASH only sale.
The remaining Early Bird tickets will go on sale at 10am online. (We're still friends internet, but sometimes you just make things a little too easy for everyone)
And interesting about the paperless tickets. Thanks.

Yes and if you're tall.
I had row 23 for the Aerosmith show a couple years back and my girlfriend (about 5'5) couldn't see a thing. We went up into the stands and traded our tickets for some reserved ones.

Depending on the stage setup, row 25 is probably around centre ice. How good your view is will depend on how tall you are and how tall the people in front of you are.

did you use 2 different credit cards? If you read the info about the paperless tickets it warns not to do 2 orders , it may cancel your orders although it say sonly over the lmit orders may be cancelled.
ATTENTION FANS: There are strict ticket limits for all Paperless sections. Multiple purchases are forbidden and violation of this policy may result in (over the limit) tickets being voided.

Calgary's hottest club is Palomino. Don’t be thrown off when you’re greeted at the door by a rabbi that looks Joaquin Phoenix. You’re in the right place. Club owner, Robert Blake, has thought of everything. Gosps, carnival barkers, groups of guys with afros in graduation caps, human fire hydrants. You know it’s that thing when high-waisted midgets, with like, the red pants.
With Double Fuzz, Fist City and The Soft Option. Doors at 9 pm. Tickets $8.
This is infinitely better than seeing them at the Dome.

Holy moly. Skrillex is putting together a cross-Canada "festival express" type tour and it looks like a monster. Diplo, PRETTY EFFIN LIGHTS and Grimes are gonna be there.
Unfortunately no Calgary shows...strange. July 20th in Edmonton at Kinsmen Park. I'm assuming that is an outdoor facility? Maybe Calgary doesn't have any big enough outdoor venues for this?
Anyways, I'll be making the trip up for sure. This is going to be ridiculous.

Any good pages to follow on Facebook to find these shows?
Sorry, just noticed this. Best company to follow is Ill Movements. They bring a ton of great acts to town and you'll hear about other stuff from them as well.

I've heard a few stories like that recently with ticketmaster sales, sounds like they have moved to a staggered ticket release system instead of the previous "everything is on sale at 10:00" way of doing it before. I guess it's to alleviate the problem of 100% of tickets being gone in 30 seconds and on stubhub 5 minutes later.

It's been a while since I've seen a show in the Saddle Dome, and boy, does that place suck. I was third row from the bottom but close to the rear left corner, and the sound was distorted and never crisp for me.
Black Keys rocked out though, too bad bout the venue. Little Black Submarines is my favourite track off the new album and they played, and killed it so that was great.

I was mixed about the Black Keys show...really thought they waited too long to come out for the encore and should have swapped their last two songs of their actual set with their encore songs. The mix was pretty weak, I thought the vocals could have been a lot more front and centre, considering how much he's improved since previous albums.

“Basically we’re a punk band who draw a lot of influence from delta blues, 50s rock and roll, reggae melodies and stuff like that,” says singer/guitarist Al Drinkle.

The Wet Secrets are a five-piece rock and roll dance band from Edmonton. Grant Lawrence of CBC Radio 3 named their song "Secret March" one of the "Best 20 Songs of the Decade".
Edmonton camp masters are ready to go fully bananas
Edmonton's premiere marching rock and roll band. Known primarily for their somewhat campy aesthetic, which often carries over to their music, as evidenced by songs titled, "Grow Your Own F**** Moustache, A**hole," or, "I Teabagged Myself," the Wet Secrets have emerged from a self-imposed pseudo-hiatus to once again prowl the indie circuit — all in impeccable formation, of course.

Armed with a penchant for pickles and plaid, the Falklands plug in as often as life allows. The Edmonton four-piece have been delivering loud, hook laden rock and roll from Vancouver to Halifax since 2009, chalking up over one-hundred shows and numerous Canadian tours along the way. With driving rhythms, frenetic outbursts, and pop-tinged melodies, their distinct brand of rock and roll is firmly anchored by their roots in punk and powerpop, drawing apt comparisons to the Buzzcocks or Ted Leo. This rock and roll behemoth teeters on the edge—unrestrained spontaneity; uncontrolled possibility.
