Devils And Panthers Swap Defensive Prospects

The New Jersey Devils would like to announce that they have swapped blue-chip defensive prospects with the Florida Panthers.

Leaving the Devils organization is Jack Johnson, while joining the Devils is Luc Bourdon.

I think Bourdon has just as much upside as Johnson does but he has already gotten some pro experience under his belt and to be honest, Johnson could be 2 years from playing in the NHL. We'll see how it works out I guess.

Hmm....Johnson would be in the NHL, but he told Michigan that he would committ for two years and has honored that committment. Bourdon had a chance to make a weak Canuck defence and didn't. IMO Bourdon didn't play enough in the NHL to justify a rating worth playing for next year. I think Johnson will have a full time NHL job next year, and has a lot more upside myself. But thats just my opinion.

Thanks for the comments, guys, I think Bourdon's playing well, and yes, he didn't make the Canucks this year but I just feel he's closer than Johnson is. I suppose I could end up with egg on my face over this one, and time will tell, but I do like Bourdon (obviously). We'll see how it will work out.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, I never included any monkeys in this deal. I could very well have lost the deal (consensus points that way at the moment - yikes) but I am not going to get hosed by sending our franchise primate out the door as well.

Wow, well, obviously we all had different ideas. Admittedly, this might have been a brain fart on my end, in fact, I'd suggest it probably was given the public sentiment, but Bourdon is far from crap ... three straight years playing for the Canadian Jrs definitely is evidence pointing in that direction. It's not like he's Rory Fitzpatrick or anything ... but whatever! To each their own.
