It doesn't. You normally feel the ice or the boards before you realize you've been hi by Phaneuf.

They better wake up, really sloppy out there. Roger mentioned bad ice, but that doesn't seem to effect the Ducks. Although they are probaqbly used to bad ice. This has been a really looooong period.

Not a great period........too much standing around, especially in the defensive zone. Also having a world of trouble getting the puck out of their zone.

They can't hold on for 20 minutes.......gotta get the puck deep in their zone and start getting some pressure on their D, especially the DiPenta/O'Brien pairing.

A strong 20 minutes and they can win, another period like the 2nd and they are flirting with disaster.

Not flahsy but, solid defensive hockey.

The Flames are working and are deserving of the 2-0 lead after two.

Come on boys.....One more hard working period and we can celebrate a big victory.

Hunter74
11-10-2006, 10:20 PM
Well the guys had a very hard time completing a pass in that period. They had quite a few scoring chances with Kobasew having some bad luck and Huselius getting the puck in some nice scoring areas but for some reason not being able to shoot it.

Hopefully Playfair can get the guys to take advantage of the Ducks defensemen pinching constantly when the puck is in our zone. If we can exploit that for a goal or 2 then things will be alot safer if there is even a safe lead in the NHL.

Even though that period wasn't that great the guys were still working hard and blocking shots.

Considering Prust has on played 3:45mins he sure does make his presence felt out there. I don't know if I am just looking for him or is it he jsut amkes something happen physically. I didn't even know McCarty actually got a shift in that game.

When guys like Aucoin and McKee are making 3 million plus, Hamrlik is a bargain. Derek Morris is making $4 million. Considering his age and history, Hamrlik is relatively cheap.
Agreed there, his price is good. But even if he is making less than what he could be making, the Flames can't afford Hammer if Regehr and Phaneuf are making similar money (and they will likely be worth more).

You are preaching to the Hammer quire - I have said it ever since we got him, people here just dont like him cause he doesnt go out of his way to hammer people like Dion and Robyn and get caught out of position.

For me he is the most valuable defenceman for the Flames.

Flames played a very smart defensive third period, other than the second period this was a very good effort by the Flames. Shot totals don't really tell the story of this one, though Kiprusoff was amazing, the Flames defensive play kept most of the Ducks scoring chances to the outside. I can only think of 2-3 very danerous scoring chances for the Ducks, one of them was a deflection and the other two were mad scrambles with the man-advantage.

Not yet. Kipper stole us 2 straight games! Kipper played great, but so did the D for the most part (clearing rebounds!). Flames had a tough time with faceoffs, and a tough time clearing the zone. But, there was hustle, and this was a bit more like the team we saw last season.

Except they didn't blow the 2 goal lead. Remember how those went for us last year ;)

We gave up shots, but most were from way out, and while we didn't have many shots, we had good chances and buried 2 of them. Shots are nice, but it is realistic chances that matter.
After we got up 2, we sat in the defensive shell, but now our D seems back to last year's levels and clear the rebounds.
