How did they become so stacked?

Speeds spent the last two years bottom feeding and collecting prospects. May pay-off this year or the next, or the next or the next.... who knows :D

Prospects are nice to have...it takes a lot of veteran leadership to win it all....The Oilers should have that in about 6 years! ;)

what it really takes to win is talent.

And the Oilers have that in spades.

The Oilers are pretty much unbeatable now :) , and will be downright dominant in 2 years or so.

Get your wins against me while you can Cheese :)

Well the Oilers are undoubtably a good squad, and they certainly have the look of a team that will improve annually as their players gain experience and their prospects start to make a bigger impact in the NHL. Still as it stands right now the Oilers lack backup goaltending, don't really have high rated RW after Hossa (although Zherdev will certainly fill the bill sooner than later). At Centre the Oilers also lack a true number one guy for today, and will be using one of Weiss, Santala, or McDonald in their opeing night lineup. The Oilers probably are the best team in the league at LW as it currently stands and the defence is certainly solid with Leetch, Foote, and Rafalski anchoring it. I still don't think Vokun is a championship calibre tender, but he certainly is a capable number one guy. I'm sure the Oilers will be willing to trade youth to upgrade where they feel they need it. The Oilers are a good team right now, but based on todays ratings I wouldn't consider them stacked right now. They are stacked with prospects, but like I've said having prospects in a SIM league is like having a rich uncle who smokes 4 packs a day and has you as the sole beneficiary to his estate. You'll reap the rewards someday, but when???

all I know is my team finished top 10 last year, and to me seems far better this year.

Using Weiss in the opening lineup isn't much of a knock, he's underrated by the sim considering his 29 points in 50 games last year, as a 20 year old, a former 4th overall draft pick in a deep draft.

Certainly though, C is a position where I could use an upgrade, at least for my roster this season until the sim corrects the rankings of Spezza and Weiss.

If you upgrade at C, pick up a 2nd line RW, and add a backup goalie for insurance, than you are one of the top 5 teams for sure and as likely as anyone to claim top team status.

It is the stated goal of the Wild to have a team that is exactly twice as old as the Oil. We can then ice a team that will run around beating Speed's precious youngn's with our canes and walkers.

Its a sound plan.

you are probably right on the money.

except my 2nd line RW seems fine to me, with Morozov. Wouldn;'t hurt ot add another Hossa level player, if possible, but they aren't easy to come by in a league like the CPHL.
