The Colorado Avalanche are pleased to announce that pending league approval Pavel Trnka and a 2006 4th round Pick will be heading to Denver in exchange for veteran D-man Bob Boughner.
"We wish you a merry christmas, and Bob Boughner all the very best of luck in Florida. We are delighted to welcome Pavel to Colorado and envisage him playing an important role in the season ahead."
The trade is the first one involving NHL players for months for the Avalanche as Todd's efforts to strengthen his pool of players gather momentum. Asked about future trades his reply was "We see ourselves as a play-off team this year and its my job to get us there. Our top-line can compete with anyone in the CPHL and we have a good 1-2 in goals with Turek and DiPietro. Our form in pre-season has been improving and we are in great form just now so thats something we will strive to carry on in to the season. However i will be talking to GMs with regards to increasing our strength on the blueline and thats my priority as the days til the season starts tick down."
