In a minor transaction two of the emerging Eastern powers traded players with, to be polite, shaky reputations in a deal late Thursday night.
Coming to Buffalo are D Cory Cross and a 3rd round pick. Off to Manhattan are recently signed UFA F Rob Niedermayer and 500K.
"We signed Rob at his brother's request. It's the 2nd time we've had both brothers, and it clearly wasn't going to work again this time. Too many of our players didn't like having Rob around. So while we had opened the vaults for Rob just last week, we had to move him" said GM Loooooob. "In return we got a player who brings good value in the modern CPHL, Cory Cross. The Rangers GM will soon learn you just can't replace a Cory Cross" Looooob winked.
This deal further fuels speculation that the Sabres are looking for a new destination for rugged D Mattias Norstrom
