This evening while playing a game of quarters slamming some Jack Daniels Droopy enticed Eddy Belfour to join the Lightning for 1 billion Iraqi dinar and 2 cases of Rub A535.

Eddy is said to be elated. He told one reporter "Its so much easier to get tequila in Tampa"

To make way for the Mighty eagle Droopy shipped Mika "yes im a 3" Noronen and Richard "I dont know Chan Ho" Park along with a draft pick to the Rangers.

Hearing the news that he lost his starting job Brent "Moose" Johnson stormed out of his golf foresome and demanded to be traded. He got his wish and will now be bringing home a baby bumble bee in Columbus. Much traveled Corry Cross and Michael Leighton are now headed to bartender school to keep Eddy happy.

Rangers had no choice but to move Eddie to look for a backup and a depth forward in return. For some reason the Rangers are in major league injury trouble already and the season has not even started. Going into the Rangers first game there is 4 players on the IR. Hopefully the injury bug will stop.....

Columbus has been stating for weeks that its goaltending situation was unacceptable and either Weekes or Leighton had to go for a superior replacement.

That was accomplished today... when news of Leighton's NHL future, or lack thereof hit the offices, GM Trotta was insistent that he be sent out for a backup with NHL experience, and NHL future. Seeing Brent Johnson land in Washington to back up Kolzig was all Trotta needed to see and the deal was pulled between the Jackets and Lightning.

Leaving with Leighton are journeyman and much maligned defenseman Cory Cross and a 3rd round pick (florida).

"we have a backup now that can easily push Weekes, and might just have what it takes to re-energize his career... as a 75OV in the CPHL, he gives us a lot of options goaltending wise."

Nice job all around. Jackets improve their backup situation. Bolts get a #1 which makes them a suddenly more dangerous team. And the Rangers plug some holes.
