Is this the same as in the NHL, when you take a player you have to expose one?

Ok read the rules, but now why do we have an extra team in the first round? Shouldn't there only be 16 teams the missed the playoffs, including the expansion teams?

The Sharks were allowed, by the teams in front of the Sharks, to pick first and second. So the sharks moved up to 1st, the 2nd pick was added to the original 16 and a total of 17 picks are in the first round

Actual Draft Order was:
1 Pens
2 Hawks (given to Sharks)
3Canucks (given to Sharks)
4 Sharks (moved to 1st)
5 Nords
6Jets
7Stars
8Lightning
9Panthers (given to Sharks)
10 Devils
11Flyers
12 blues
13Sabres
14Kings
15 Wings
16 Islanders

There is however one drawback with having so many picks to start...I cannot pick up players exposed by other teams after the make a waiver pick.

As well, as I understand it, if I pass I can no longer pick players...so after my 3-4 pick if there is nothing that fills a need I have to pick a player just to stay active?

A quick note from me - I anticipate being at the draft but it will be tight. Should I not make it in time Goffie will be picking on my behalf and he's been provided with a list.

well...if theres nothing to pick after two picks...then nothing will be there after. If there is...Id trade for it. Couldnt be that expensive.

Yeah given whats available in the draft. I don't think it will last that long. Once the first round is done I can't see too many teams wanting to carry on.

GM Axmann of the Calgary Flames announced today that he will not be attending the waiver draft due to a Birthday celebration for his mother.

Jets GM, Mike Walsh will be watching over the flames during these proceedings.

Thank you and good luck to all teams
