I really liked BlackEleven's caption.

"Have you seen my baseball?" is a line from "There's Something About Mary." Cameron Diaz's character has a handicapped brother who is in search of his missing ball throughout the movie, and it leads to a big comedy payoff near the end of the flick.

If you haven't seen the movie, or forgot about that part, I can see why it wouldn't be funny.
