Got to thinking about this the other day, CP has members from all over the world and one thing that I´ve been big on since childhood was music from other nations.

Share your favorites, old, new, cheesy, whatever. I love hearing whats popular in your nation :)

Going to work in a whole bunch of Icelandic ones, from new to old, starting with my favorite, he´s been called Icelands Bruce Springsteen.

I love East Coast Celtic stuff out of Cape Breton & Newfoundland:

Barra MacNeils
Rankin Family
Ashley MacIsaac
Irish Descendants
The Fables
Rawlins Cross
Sláinte Mhath
John Allen Cameron
Buddy MacMaster
Natalie MacMaster
Donnie Campbell

I think the consensus is that we don't actually speak English but our own #######ization of God only knows what

and of course, Donnie Dumphy:

Väikeste Lõõtspillide Ühing (Little Accordion Orchestra). Great "party band" and reminds me an awful lot of the East Coast stuff from Canada. Some of my fave memories of Estonia. They like to drink, and this is the perfect band for it.

You can listen to their entire catalog on their website http://www.vly.ee (go to "Albumid" and listen, especially the "old" stuff).

For a speck of a country you put out some good music.

Here's a dozen :)

First, just last night I saw these guys play live, and they were in as good a shape as ever I'd say. Legendary Finnish alternative rock.
uBJH2R8Ds94

Alternative / progressive rock from Finland. Song is about the fear of growing old and facing it with your loved one. Love the video.
hua3zrF4Kwo

This band was from Sweden. Still great stuff. Folk with an edge.
_5bW0OrEl7Q

Finland's #1 rapper IMO, also sampling folk music.
ihBkcLBSuEw

Someone posted Der Kommissar, which reminded me of these guys, who covered that song. Industrial metal.
kM6VyCwyntk

This guy is one of the most legendary Finnish artists. Still kicks ass. (Finns might be interested to hear this version, it adds some lyrics to this famous song.) Somewhat Tom Waits / Johnny Cash.
LjlhFySPScw

My favourite alternative pop artist. Song is about a firebomb in a supermarket and the resulting societal lockdown / NWO.
ejBwnSNRED8

An artist from the same label. Varies from low-key twisted first person stories from the dark side of the human mind. And then they can put out amazing rocking grooves. And sometimes it's both at the same time. One of the best live acts I've ever seen, and I've seen a few.
RTZ4Cn0gn6I

This guy managed to turn reggae Finnish, while staying true to his Finnish roots. Good stuff.
xxzjzHBZZok

This is my favourite rock lyricist. Classic Finnish rock / pop.
ZsTVIdmzmNQ

Legendary Finnish avant-garde / post-rock band. Often instrumental. (Video is unofficial.)

And here's the great, great flamenco artist Vicente Amigo. An amazing virtuoso and a true original. From Spain, unsurprisingly.

Ah Finland. There's a lot right in a country where there are several heavy metal bands meant for kids. :)

My 5 year old daughter likes the band below, and I don't mind at all.

These guys have the right attitude for this stuff too. In this song a kid tries to cheer up his dad with a big fart and when she's sent to bed without dinner, she starts complaining how her parents are never home and they always tell her to stop doing everything that's fun, so she never wants to be a "stupid adult" (which is the name of the song).

Here are a couple from a band that I'm not sure I'd say I really love, but they definitely make me sentimental about life up north in 东北. Used to hear these all the time, and I do like them. Ah Finland. There's a lot right in a country where there are several heavy metal bands meant for kids. :)

My 5 year old daughter likes the band below, and I don't mind at all.

These guys have the right attitude for this stuff too. In this song a kid tries to cheer up his dad with a big fart and when she's sent to bed without dinner, she starts complaining how her parents are never home and they always tell her to stop doing everything that's fun, so she never wants to be a "stupid adult" (which is the name of the song).
sBtoNgxxpes

I couldn't agree more. I must imagine it's so much better than parents I know of here whose daughters only want to listen to Hannah Montana, or whatever.

And what a hilarious and great concept for a song.

Here are a couple from a band that I'm not sure I'd say I really love, but they definitely make me sentimental about life up north in 东北. Used to hear these all the time, and I do like them. They're maybe a pretty good representation of what's pop for a lot of the young people in China outside super cities like Shanghai.

Kent actually made some of their songs in English too, including that one.

They have a great sound and are huge in Sweden and pretty big in Finland. (Don't know about other places, I think that's about it.)

The lyrics lose some cool undertones in translation, but it's still good stuff.

Yeah they just sound better in Swedish. I understand Swedish somewhat, but since Swedish can be quite direcly translated into English (unlike Finnish), it's easier for me to listen to them in English if I want to understand what they are saying (as in when a song is new).

The girl band stuff is pretty bland.. after awhile all the girl bands sound the same.

The boy bands are slightly better. Sure they are still manufactured but the songs are better and have more variety. The guys are more talented while the girls are just doing basic dance moves and showing off their legs.

The guys are good looking too but that wouldn't interest you guys :)
