Didn't see a thread about this, Bob McKenzie just tweeted a few minutes that apparently John Negrin has been sent down to our ECHL team. Has his play been that bad?
McKenzie:
Just noticed couple of NHL drafted players - CGY's John Negrin and OTT's Louie Caporusso - assigned to ECHL, Utah & Elmira, respectively.

With the acquisitions of Smith, Henry and Wilson, it's better that Negrin receives playing time in the ECHL, rather than the bench.
Still a shame to see though. Hopes were so high for him 2 years ago.

It's too bad Negrin never really seemed to recover from his injury. He looked quite good before then.

Wow i thought he would be competing for the 6-7th spot on the flames this year. Has his play been that bad?

His play hasn't been that bad. But the D on the Heat has done a tremendous job so far, and he needs to build back his confidence.
Most people say that that ECHL is basically a death sentence for prospects, but the Abbotsford Heat are unique in that their extensive travel schedule tends to lend itself to injury. I would be surprised to see less than 100 games lost due to injury on the backend, and at some point Negrin will be recalled to fill in some of those games. That's my positive spin, anyway.

Victim of the numbers game, really. Breen, Brodie and arguably Piskula have overtaken him.
